wood for deck
I know the correct answer to this but, is there anything other than marine grade ply to use for decking ...I just don't have enough for marine carpet ,and wood ....trying to do on a beet budget...but want the best I can afford ....boat stays on trailer under cover or in garage ...94 Northwood 18'....
Re: wood for deck
Sort of depends on how often you want to tear it apart and re floor it, marine plywood 20 years, exterior grade plywood 2 to 3 years, and what ever you do not use pressure treated it eats the alum cross members.
If it aint broke your not having enough fun

Yep. Use marine grade or you'll be tearing it down again pretty quickly.

Re: wood for deck
Get the decking and coat it with bed linner material, water proof, you can get it in any color and can do it your self to save money

Re: wood for deck
2 bedliner kits, and you'd have enough $ to pay the difference. Even regular exterior grade plywood is expensive per sheet.
Go for the marine grade and do yourself a favor. It's a 1 week part time job to replace it and refit all the furniture, etc.
Just about every middle size and large city has a plywood dealership servicing cabinet shops and manufacturers.

Re: wood for deck
After she see's the amount of work it takes to tear the deck down maybe she will see why you wouldn't want to do it again just to save a couple hundred dollars. Believe me i understand doing projects on a tight budget but that is not an area i would try to cut cost. My.02

Grins, get her to help you strip the old deck off, nothing like hands on experience to convince some one.
I shopped around on prices and was able to find it for 50 a sheet but it took a 5 hour drive to pick it up. My only local shop had it for 100 a sheet and I needed 5 sheets and having a lot more time than money I made the drive, 300 including gas beats 500 any day of the week.
And I really understand where your coming from. I am retired and have a limited amount of recorce`s my self. I work on mine during the winter I keep it on a slip during the summer. It took me all most 3 years to rebuild mine in stages. My first season it was a open deck with folding chairs and some plastic storage boxes, The grand kids loved the room to run around in. but I did the floor and new carpet and added a bimni. Over the second winter I added furniture and a live well. And now this is third winter I add a new console and doing motor work and its done and i have a brand new 1988 boat thats paid for and I just smile as I cruze by the 40 k payment boats.
Get the deck sorted out and go and use it and enjoy your family thats the real joy of boating.

Re: wood for deck
I see you are in Kansas. I am in Lincoln NB, got mine at Home Depot- Ya its still $70 bucks a sheet (I needed 6) but FREE delivery, Menards has it also. I have $700 dollars in my deck with plywood, fasteners, glue and good indoor outdoor carpet. and its the last time I will have to do it, my kids may not need to ether. getting her to help with the demo is a vary good idea.

Sure, but you have to buy them from Lowe's not Home Depot.
