Shake Down Cruise

#1 Post by smltooner » Sun Mar 10, 2013 2:21 pm

Just got back from the first cruise of the year.
Got the toon back Friday from the dealer for the annual maintenance.
Today it is sunny, 63° and a light breeze.
Took a 2 hr cruise and the dog and I really enjoyed it.
Everything on the boat is good to go.....just have to clean and 303 the seats.
It will be a while before getting in the water...the water temp is 46°.
It was a good first day for DST.
Come on spring.

Glad you had a good time at Smith Mtn. Lake today. It was a beautiful day to be on the water for sure. It won't be long before I'm out there myself. Got a few "loose ends" to take care of on the Family Cruiser & it will be all set to go.

Spent yesterday on the 48 degree water here in Ga. Quite chilly. Today was sunny and 71, much more enjoyable. More and more on the water, and finally have enough of it with the lake 4 ft short of full pool. Hoping for more rain on weekdays to keep the summer fun!

:box Oh, Rub it in guys! We are still iced in! Na, hearing your ventures warms up my cold bones. Can't wait for warmer Iowa weather! Have fun and enjoy! Glad all is well with the boats...

We've been seeing nice days in the Mid South, but the wind has been ferocious most days--25 mph.

Such wind can cause swells on the big lake, and it's been a little tough to fish or ride.

Fishermen have been out in packs on the days without so bad of wind, however.

Hopefully we can say the winter weather's now gone.

It was really nice here too yesterday. My son & I worked outside on the Voyager pontoon we are rebuilding & turning into a fishing barge. We wore shirt sleeve shirts the whole entire time yet never sweated the first time. That was the really NICE part of the entire day other then getting the pontoon deck torn off. This morning the temps are in the high 30s & overcast but it was forecast to be cloudy & in the mid 70s. :x Calling for 60% chance of RAIN later this evening & all day tomorrow now. :x :x :x

Within 4 feet of full pool, at least until Gwinnett County sucks the lake dry. And they keep on building more houses and more houses around Lake Lanier. But the houses in the area are pretty incredible, especially for the prices they're selling for.

Wow, all of this talk about being on the water has me feeling jealous!! Here at the homestead it is bright and sunny...............and 30 degrees. Luckily we are down to about an inch of snow on the grass, unfortunately there is still 1 - 2 feet on the ground up at the cottage - obviously the groundhog lied! Oh well, just another month and a half until the boat gets delivered but the days seem to be going by slower than ever. :x

Congrats to those who already find themselves out on the water!! :bowdown

It was 81 here yesterday (a record), but I had to work. At least I got to take 'er out over the weekend - mid 70's - but a little windy. I took 'er up the bayou (behind my house :) ) this time - probably 6 miles. The water varried between 11 to 25 feet deep - so I don't know how far I can go, yet. Gotta watch for the sunken trees though - idled along most of the way. Gave the trolling motor a try too. All in all a nice day. Come to think of it - I'm not sure where my jacket is. :donno :eviltaunt
