Slow boat market, or what?
I have had my toon on the market for3 months now, with little interest from real buyers. More than a few lookers/dreamers, but almost nobody with cash. Anyone seeing the same or different? I will use the toon this season if it does not sell, but I really hoped I would see more buyers.

That's what drives me nuts. The dreamers blow up your phone several times, act really serious, then flake out. I'd say that only 25% of the calls I got were even remotely serious.

Re: Slow boat market, or what?
My Manitou was starting to worry me until March of last year. Then the emails and calls really came in. I sold it the last week of March. Bought the Premier the 2nd week of April. It will sell, pontoons are so hot right now! We have a gut here in town that will not look at any glass boats, all he is dealing with are toons. Its just slow because its not boating season yet. Don't be discouraged, it will sell!

Re: Slow boat market, or what?
The new boat market starts moving in January, and is often a product of the boat show tire kicking.
Like they said, it's not boating season yet and the used boat market doesn't come into play until then.
The marine business has still not recovered from the 2008 economy downturn, and money remains tight. But the only segment of the market that shows promise ARE the pontoon/tritoon boats.
Hang in there and your boat will sell at an advantageous price. Just don't get your emotions. At least you can still enjoy your boat in the meantime even if it takes awhile to sell. There's just no reason to give away such a prime piece of merchandise.

Yup, that's why I bought mine in the dead of winter, at a low price. Oh wait, that's not what you wanted to hear.
It'll sell in season.

Re: Slow boat market, or what?
Nothing like a little spring weather and a tax return to help fire up the market. Despite the economy, pontoons are in high demand. If it is priced fair it should sell.
We upgraded slightly where I bought a little bigger toon in early December at an off season price. I held off selling our other pontoon until just now. We have had 2 weeks of 80 plus degree weather, so I cleaned her up and put her on Craigslist-it sold in 30 minutes.

That's what happened with my Baja sportboat; a couple weeks of springtime weather, and it sold in one day on craigslist for all cash.Rudebob wrote:

Not in a hurry to sell, since I have it running great. Its just bigger than we want now that my youngest son is leaving for college. We (just the Admiral and me) are looking at a 21-24 foot toon with some speed that we can haul to new areas to chase and annoy the fish there...
Had two folks come out last week to look it over, but I guess they didn't realize just how big my barge is

Market is slow, but picking up. With spring on its way, and the insurance company writing checks for damaged or totaled boats are coming in, that should help.
