SouthBay pontoon Boat
I just Bought a 2012 SouthBay 522CR its a left over has a merc 90 4 stroke. Juast wondering how southbay stands up to the more popular boats and is this a good motor?
Re: SouthBay pontoon Boat
Oh yes, the Southbay is a popular boat and of good quality.
And the Mercury 90 hp motor is just fine.
It should last you for a long time.

Thanks I traded a 2002 premiere with honda 90 4stroke SouthBay got good reviews, but i figured I'd get the more honest answers here thanks again
Re: SouthBay pontoon Boat
Well, since you already bought it, it is a bit to late but we have the FCR and love it, could not see much difference between that and a bennington, other than they seem like the same quality and a little less price.

We love ours and have not had any problems.
There is only one thing I can think of that you may want to check and it is minor. South Bay uses zinc plated drain plugs. If you wet slip your boat, those will rust over time (but its a long time). I replaced mine with stainless plugs.

Love mine as well. I did have a couple minor issues. First , my cover came apart at the collars for the bimini uprights. Just a bad sew job. No rips or tears , the thread just came apart. 3 out of 4 last summer.
Also I will have to cut my back bimini supports and make them shorter. The top just does not fit right even with the front uprights in the lowest holes. It sits with the front too low and the top is somewhat loose. Only way I can see is to raise the front and take the slack up by lowering the rear.

Re: SouthBay pontoon Boat
It looks like your front posts are shorter than the back ones move then end for end front to back and back to front. Could work maybe before you cut them.

Re: SouthBay pontoon Boat
Smoker, your top just needs to be adjusted.as was said above. Loosen where the front and rear struts attach and you should be able to level it out. That was poor setup from the dealer.

Smoker-
Cutting the rear struts may work, or relocate them backwards onto the main top fence rail.
That elevated fence piece is what got you buggered up.
Nice Southbay btw.
