Bright Orange Outboard Cover

#1 Post by Lurch77 » Mon Apr 01, 2013 6:53 pm

During my research before buying our pontoon, I saw a picture of someone's pontoon with a bright orange cover on their outboard motor. It was a full cover, top to bottom, including prop, for storage and trailering. Not the vented style that can be left on all the time. I cannot recall if it was on this forum or somewhere else. I thought this was a great idea for trailering visibility, as the motor hangs way out there. I'm a motorcyclist, so I know anything that gets people's attention is good. But now I cannot find the picture or a place online to buy one. Could this have been a custom made cover? Anyone know what I am talking about?

I hate to say "Nope", but.......................Nope! I Googled it.................................Nope!
Coulda been custom made. Kind of a good idea! Maybe a thought of invention? Hmm.......

I haven't seen anything like that to cover an entire motor. But I did see a prop cover that was bright red with a bulls-eye target on it. That was very bright and got my attention when I was following behind the towed boat. I've thought about getting something like that just to put on the prop when the boat is sitting on the trailer -- so I somebody doesn't accidently get injured on the prop.

I say hang a big picture of a bikini gal and you are sure to get the attention of other drivers following. The only downside is you might get rear ended. :biggrin2

We use one of my sister's skirts from a halloween costume from many years ago, its bright red with elastic on the top, so it fits over the prop perfectly and wont fall off, and covers the prop and more completely.

any good tarp shop or where you get your mooring cover made can make any kind of cover you want. i had a cover made just like the suzuki cover and he even lined it with a sweat shirt like material cheaper than the factory one.
