Bottom of the pontoon logs. In salt, brackish and some freshwater areas you need to paint to protect from corrosion, barnacles or acidic water. The Chesapeake can be fresh or salty depending on how much rain we get.

All that cleaning and painting sounds like way too much work and expense. Glad I will be in freshwater lake 200 miles from closest salt water.
Thinking very serious about rental wet slip for this year on Lay Lake. Then it will take little effort to slip off to lake on slow afternoon. Sounds like better therapy than riding mower.

Re: Do you need to bottom paint every year
I wanted the dealer to just drop my boat in the water but this is what they said
Dropping in the water-no problem. However will not be spring started nor painted. Will come to you still winterized with shrinkwrap on it. We will not be liable for marine growth or barnacle damage without bottom paint. To have these services performed, we would need approximately two weeks notice.
I have had it painted with 2 coats of paint each year, so I was hoping to skip a year. This doesn't seem very customer friendly to me.

Sounds like they're more hungry for $$$ then they are for repeat customers.
I'd tell them to pound sand, and still do it myself, in a day.

Yea I am going to try to do it myself. How do they expect me to drive a boat with shrink wrap on it. They could at least cut that off for me.

Tell them to do everything except the paint. If they won't tell them to go **** themselves.
