Thank you everybody for the warm welcome.
steveiam,
Well, now that I have a boat, I will probably fish in: The soil conservation lake in Canton (well kept secret in this part of East Texas for perch and crappie), Lake Tawakoni, Cedar Creek, Lake Athens (this is a beautiful lake, with beautiful houses), Purtis Creek State Park, Lake Fork, and maybe Lake Palestine. And sometime down the road, I want to fish in Caddo Lake.
That should be a good start, ha ha.

LOL-Sounds like some plans!
We a few guys that boat and fish on Caddo also on here.
I fish Tawokoni and cedar creek when I can.
I chase the blue cat mostly but will be happy to fillet a sandy or crappie when i can also.
You are going to enjoy that toon.
I often wonder if Jimmy really did crack corn, and why should I care?

very nice sun tracker! if you switch the mount and the boat is two high you may want to try a straight mount. My Dad's 2003 f250 sits about as high as a f150 4x4 and me run a straight mount on it.
My Happy place is on a boat at the lake with my kids!!
current boats:
1983 chaparral 235 XLC (restoration)
1977 playcraft p24 pontoon (parents own now I am the mechanic)
1975 skeeter hawk (on hold)
past boats:
this list will not fit!

Roland,
my question to you is, do I need a trolling motor for my pontoon boat. We plan on doing quite a bit of fishing, but I don't know that I want the trolling motor laying on the deck for everyone to trip over.

Brad... I don't have one on my toon... same reason, don't want it laying out in the way... I know some guys use them, but personally I've never really seen the need for one on our boat... we usually try to get up in the trees and tie up and then throw a couple of mushroom anchors off the back end....

I wanted to give an update date, in regards to rotating my 2" drop hitch 180 degrees. After rotating my drop hitch, I now have a 3/4" rise versus a 2" drop (per the sticker on the drop hitch, if all else fails, read the instructions, ha ha), for a total of 2 3/4" rise from where I started. Turning the hitch around did the trick, the trailer is pretty close to level, close enough for me.
The trailer rides better, along with the fact that I added tie-down straps to the back of the boat. I just feel better in my mind having the rear of the boat strapped down.

I am looking at the 2015 model with the 60 hp as well. Are you able to troll with that motor?
Thanks for the reply

Yes you can troll at a slow steady pace with this motor. The 60 hp 4-stroke motor can idle all day long, and it is very quiet at idle/trolling speed.
