Fender hangers
I've seen a lot of positive reviews for the EZ Fender hangers and they do look to do the job very well.
But there are other products out there on the market which never seem to get a mention on here.
Here is an example - http://www.overtons.com/modperl/product ... rchID=4006
These look like they will do the job fine and have the added advantage of being fully removable - and they're a lot cheaper. The best I've found is $13 for 4.
Is there an issue with the over the rail ones which I don't know about, hence why they don't get mentioned on here?

No. The owner of EZ-Fenders is a member here. We love his products.
I have skanky old home-made pvc over-the-rail hangers, and as soon as I get other things squared away, you can be sure that I'll have EZ-Fenders then.

Re: Fender hangers
I thought that might be the case....
One concern I have with the EZ Fenders is that my mooring cover is already tight to get all the pop studs clipped in place. If I install the EZ Fenders on top of the rail, will this interfere with the cover and make it more awkward to clip it all in place?

You might want to install them on the INSIDE of the top rail!rob28 wrote:One concern I have with the EZ Fenders is that my mooring cover is already tight to get all the pop studs clipped in place. Re: Fender hangers
I use the over the rail taylor mades. No problems with them for me. The only reason I don't use the EZ fendors and support a fellow forum member is because we move our fendors around regularly when tying up with other boats so the permanent nature of the EZ fendors is a negative for me. Although I've been thinking about mounting some EZ fendors on the dock side of my boat and just using the taylor made ones when we tie up with others.

I used the one's from Overtons had two sets. Liked them alot just got tried of having to tie a knot in them all the time also if they catch on something and you don't see it say bye bye to your bumper, that's when I when with the EZ's been using them all year so far. I have 3 pair already and am thinking of getting another pair.
Just my

Re: Fender hangers
I know that the EZ-Fenders are popular on this site and I fully support our forum entrepreneurs but I have to admit that I like the clips.
I bought the very same clips last year. they worked great all season. I store my fenders under one of my seats and never know exactly where I will need them placed. I might have friends tied up on both sides of my boat while anchored out on the weekend. With these clips, I can hang them exactly where they are needed quickly and easily.

Re: Fender hangers
I just put some EZ Fenders on this year. I was also worried about how the cover would go on the boat after these were installed on the rails. The 2 that I installed towards the bow of the boat are on the rails behind the bench seating. The seating is higher than the rails, so there is no problem with the EZ Fenders touching the cover. The 2 that I installed on each side towards the stern of the boat, are on the sections of rails that are actually lower than the rest of the rails. With the support poles in the middle of the boat to hold up the cover, the cover doesn't touch the EZ Fenders very much.
So, bottom line, I have not had any problesm with using the cover on my boat with the EZ Fenders installed. The EZ Fenders sure made it a quick and easy task of adjusting the fenders when we pulled up to the marina -- just loosen the thumb screw, adjust the length of the rope to the fender, tighten the thumb screw -- and you are done.
I looked at the plastic style that clip to the rail. Most of the negative comments I read were dealing with the plastic clips breaking after a few years.

Re: Fender hangers
We installed our EZ Fenders where we wanted the fenders to hang while in our slip. When going to the gas dock or tying up elsewhere, we adjust the line length and done. If need to, we throw out another fender and just quick-tie it on the fence. The lines are all marked so we can re-adjust the length to our home slip just by lining up the EZ Fender with the mark on the line. Idiot proof. We love the EZ Fenders and tho we also like to support forum members, we wouldn't sacrifice quality, price, service just to do biz with a forum entrepreneur.

The response above is pretty much where my mind is at the moment. We're new to our boat and pontoons in general so it might better for us to see where we use the fenders most and if we need to move them around lots. If we find we're always using them in the same spot, EZ Fenders sound like the easier option.

Re: Fender hangers
I use the plastic clips and they work well. However, if junior takes the boat out and forgets to bring in the fenders, then bye-bye fender and clip.
I seriously thought about getting the E-Z Fenders, but didn't want the hassle of threading the lines every time I needed to put a fender out. If I did a lot of rafting up, then those plastic clips probably won't last all that long, especially around here.

Re: Fender hangers
Same with me. I like the design of EZFenders but I'm always moving my fenders around. My toon is only an 18fter so space is limited. I only use two fenders and like having the ability of moving them quickly. I have been using the plastic ones for years with no problems (yet). Everyone who has the EZFenders loves them so it's definitely a well made product. It's just a matter of preference.krusskruss wrote:I know that the EZ-Fenders are popular on this site and I fully support our forum entrepreneurs but I have to admit that I like the clips.
