Boat is in and driving lessons have begun!

Got the bimini on and installed and the weather was finally nice enough to take her out.
Had a fellow toon owner drive with me to get the basics down with driving and navigating our lakes (we live on the Chain of Lakes so there are deep parts and shallow parts and since I have a stationary motor, I don't want to meet these shallow parts)
Docking was great the first time out. 2nd time, I don't know if what the issue was but I couldn't get her backend next to the pier to save my life.
So now I am on the hunt for a boat hook.
Other than that, shes floating and moving fabulously

Thats a very nice looking boat. Even a slight wind will knock you off just enough, and I would look and see if your motor is set so the tilt lock is free when its in neutral and forward. That way if you bump some thing it rides over it. you can test it by garbing the LU and pulling it up if it moves then it is, if not it needs to be.
You will get the hang of handling it fast, their not bad. Just remember it reacts slow

Would it have this feature on it? its an 1984 Evinrude. I remember seeing a black tab on it that had "tilt" listed on it

from Nippersink to Pistakee, go under rt 12 bridge. (not beer can bridge) just after Trinsky Island, there is a small deep spot that was put there for emergency boats, but used by alot of boats, its just a small deeper spot for getting up on plain. but very shallow all around it. All it does is eliminates the long no wake area heading down river. JT

its there, I only use it, if theres a storm coming, or Im in a hurry, otherwise, I just enjoy the ride. JT

JT, so I want the channel that runs along the side Bauskes correct? Not the one that angels towards the west side of pistakee?

I use the one on the west side, it depends where your going, to go down river, use the one on the west side, by the statue of liberty. JT

Katie, get a telescoping hook. I got mine at BassPro and it seems to hold up fairly well so far.
Also, you might want to consider having cleats mounted fore & aft on both sides. It sure makes it easier to tie up (for me anyway).
You might want to also think about taking a boat safety course from the local USCG Auxiliary.
