On the Pontoon, first family trip after the rebuild

#1 Post by HandymanHerb » Fri Jun 14, 2013 8:21 pm

Took off about 4 PM after hanging the ladder, working on the steering, dam thing keeps popping out of the steering box, happened once today, it ain't suppose to happen, but anyway we got it out and had some fun on it.

My brother's whole family was there and one family friend, so eight of us and a cooler and was still doing 17 MPH, I need to get the prop off so I can see what size it is, we did have a problem with the unit not pissing when we went through a small canal that had us sucking mud, I was showing water pressure, he has the water pressure line plumbed to the wrong place, should be in the pee line so I would have seen the pressure peg the gauge and know something was wrong.

But I pulled the line off the engine and blew through the hose and cleared it, dam that overheat alarm is loud, your not going to miss it, but we had a great time and stayed out till 8 pm ordered pizza and the sister n law picked it up and we ate pizza on the water while riding around after swimming, fun time had by all on the first fun trip after the rebuild

Hey how did I get in a picture, here we are going through a long canal between lakes

These Cypress trees protected and sort of hid the canal behind them

Looks/sounds like ya'll had a good time. I'm sure you guys will figure out the steering cable soon. The boat looks great, congrats on getting it out and doing a great job on the rebuild.

Wow, looks like the weather was warm and the beer was cold! Right brand, too! Nice job Herb! Bet it felt great to get her out and run!

Thanks guys,it was great being out on the water again, now we have to spend the day getting the little stuff done, 10 ft Bimini on, radio and speakers in, mount the two front Captains Chairs, graphics put on,glove box cut holes for the sunk in table bases and work on the bugs.

But we have already had many people saying our good our pontoons look, that makes you feel good after the extra work to get them done, one guy asked if it was new, It was nice saying it's a 91 and have people say WOW

HI HO HI HO it's off to work I go

Wow glad you got out Herb! There is a tightening nut on that helm...It is on the backside closest to the steering wheel! Mine kept popping out too. Then I read the directions... :smoke

Hopefully the next time down is our lucky day!

I hope so too, we are ready to see your pictures with the family on the toon enjoying the new rebuild :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup

PS: I forgot to say a thing about the new ladder, it worked great, plenty deep enough to be easy to get on and was out of the way so you can still dive or jump off the front and I like not having a ladder laying on deck, and it was easy to slide it back in place under the deck after swimming

Oh and my brother said he saw that nut, you think the guy who builds boats for a living would have too, but then he rigged it backward too :nutkick

Looks good, like the new captains helm, bought the same one for my rebuild last year. :thumbsup I rigged mine up with a new Teleflex NFB single cable 4.2 rotary setup and love it, controls my 70hp nicely.
