Fishing with carpet..??

#1 Post by rbiederwolf » Mon Jun 17, 2013 5:13 pm

Anyone get any significant fish blood/gut etc on carpet while fishing, and does it wash out easily without a lingering smell?

I have done some bass fishing etc, but this summer I am planning to go head out on the open seas and do a lot of bottom fishing and maybe some trolling for mahi etc. I know things can get pretty "fishy" in a hurry.

My pontoon has carpet and I don't wont to ruin it. I was thinking about even getting some vinyl (non skid) cut in sections to try and cover the carpet.

Any thoughts, and what about wash down? Maybe a saltwater??

I have a rubber carpet runner that I put down over the floor when I'm fishing. so far so good and it rolls up nicely for storage. And it was cost effective to boot. But I just fish on a lake for mainly bass, trout and walleye. You're going for bigger game, your mileage may vary.

I fish for catfish almost exclusively, and use a lot of cut bait.
I have a cutting board that I use to cut bait on.
The catfish also had a lot of slime that comes off, especially the bigger ones.
It washes off easily.
I often wonder if Jimmy really did crack corn, and why should I care?
