Got stuck by low tide

#1 Post by peedee » Mon Jun 17, 2013 11:13 am

I went out at about 5pm with my twin 7 year old daughters. We anchored in a little cove and played on the beach. When we went to leave the water was really low. The wind and wakes pushed us closer to shore. I couldn't push the boat back into deeper water. If there was another adult we probably could have gotten it, but by myself it wasn't working. We called for a Seatow to pull us off. By the time he got there it was dark and even more shallow. He couldn't get close enough to pull me out. He had me anchor the boat and leave it for the night. He took us back in on his boat. We got home around 12:30am. I went back out in the morning and this is how I found the boat. I wasn't sure if pirates would find it or not. The tide had swung it around and ended up on the hightest point of the sandbar. I got there around 10am and had to wait till 2pm for enough water to get me out. Next time I will park further out for sure.

Dam it sucks when the water runs off and leaves you, Dad and I screwed many moons ago in Onset Mass, we were fishing and pulled into the beach near the house to grab some lunch and when we got back we found we brough it in a little far and had to wait till night to get it back off.

Glad every thing turned out all right and everyone is safe

as much as that sucks having your boat stuck.... thank goodness you were able to get your little girls home and didn't have to spend the night out there with them.... I'm sure that would be pretty frightening to a couple of 7 year olds..... glad it turned out okay for you.
