Lake Eufaula GPS/Sonar issues
Do any of you have problems keeping bottom contact with your sonar unit on this lake. I never had issues on Tenkiller but Lowrance tec said muddy trashy water could effect sonar.
My sonar will go to a green screen and no bottom or surface showing and flash 2.3 ft. I can stop boat and it might clear up but usually if it does it don't last long before it goes off again.
Lowrance is sending me a new transducer and I am checking for software upgrades.
Help please

Re: Lake Eufaula GPS/Sonar issues
Loyd - the channels in Eufaula have a lot of "high" spots in the middle of the channel. Last summer I kept thinking I was getting out of the channel when it would drop to 2'. So this year I got that Navionics app for my phone and I can see where the channel is and where the high spots are in the middle of the channel. So apparently I was still in the channel, but just going over one of the high spots when the lake was really low last summer.
But then again, the lake is dirtier right now than I've ever seen it, so it's possible the sonar is misreading.

Re: Lake Eufaula GPS/Sonar issues
Mine shows the channels and I try to stay in them as I am learning the lake. I understand the high spot but it should correct itself as soon as it clears it. Last week we launched at #9 and went to the dam. I don't think I had good reading for a half mile total. I knew with lake high I was ok but still concerned.

Re: Lake Eufaula GPS/Sonar issues
The only time I had a real problem with mine last year was after I had beached (and learned the transducer can kick back out of place). I started to back off the beach and couldn't believe when I saw it trying to read over 800'
I got back in the water and locked the transducer back in place -- yep, only 2' of water instead of 800'
Is there anything of "sissy beach" exposed (just at the entrance of #9 cove)? I noticed the water level as a little lower this past weekend than what it was the weekend before.

You mean the swim beach? A little was showing and plenty people were there

Re: Lake Eufaula GPS/Sonar issues
This not helpful Loyd but I have a Lowrance also and I haven't had that happen.
Good luck to you--

I often wonder if Jimmy really did crack corn, and why should I care?
Re: Lake Eufaula GPS/Sonar issues
I didn't have the exact same problem on my Lowrance, but I was losing the bottom at speeds above cruising. Turns out I had to lower my transducer about an inch due to cavitation/turbulence under my log.

Re: Lake Eufaula GPS/Sonar issues
FWIW, there is a tremendous amount of debris in the water right now. I won't let my kids ski, tube, etc, for at least another couple weeks until things get settled. Several around here have put their aluminum props back on just in case
Counting all the a$$holes in the room Well I'm definitely not alone
