Does anyone here have experience with a Sanpan 2500 FE Bar? Our only concern is about how well we'll like the bar and grill taking up space in the stern... the hope is that people will like hanging out back there! We're really excited about the new boat and expect to take delivery on Saturday. It'll be outfitted with the tri-toon sport (third tube is 1/2 length) and a Yahama 150. Any realistic expectation for top speed out there? How about prop recommendations? Should we be getting 6000 RPM at WOT? Any other tips or recommendations? I'll try and post photosonce she's in the water. Thanks all!

I have a new Sanpan SP2200 with the galley/grill combo. No bar. We love the galley. With that being said, the factory does a shitty job laminating the sink bowl and grill base to the fiberglass galley base. They use epoxy which just doesn't bond to the stainless well, so it loosens during transit. Have your dealer go over the galley good. I used 5200 sealant to rebound the sink and grill. Also, one of the rear bimini strut saddle bolts came loose and dropped in the water when under way leaving the strut free to dangle. The techs said the factory failed to use locktite. The battery switch relay was pinching a wire causing the tubes to be "hot". Seems like the factory was in a hurry. There is no excuse for this on an expensive boat. She is straightened out now, but the dealer ended up pulling the boat out of the water and fixing these issues. When you take delivery, be observant and picky. You'll love the boat. I would of opted for the Yamaha 200 with that big boat. These Sanpans are really heavy. The 150 will do OK though. Go to the Bennington forum and xheck things out there. Its a very active forum, and they have a propping and performance section. Just look for a "R" series boat with ESP (tritoon) and your motor and see what they are running for a prop, it will get you close. I would suspect you should see 35ish.

My Bennington 24 SSLX has the Yamaha F150, and we're running 40 mph @ 6000 rpms with a Yamaha Reliance 15 pitch prop. It came with a 14 pitch prop, but was up against the rev limiter. I don't often run heavily loaded. If I ran with 6-8 people all the time, the 14 pitch would have been better. I would think my boat's comparable to yours.

When you get on the water, be sure to break in the engine per the dealer's instructions. 4 strokes have got to be carefully broken in before making any speed runs. And those hours can be a little boring. Just turn up the sound system and chill.

We have the South Bay 524e with the rear bar in my sifnature. we love it! We looked at the San Pan that you are getting and loved it as well and it just came down to dealers for us. Congrats on the new rig and post pics when you take delivery.

Delivery day was today! We love the new boat! Per the guidelines, we took it slow for the first two hours before trying any speed runs. I thought we had an odd result when I tried opening her up...can anyone advise?

When I opened the throttle all the way the rpms exceeded 7000 - I have to guess we were up against the rev limiter, but I couldn't tell for sure by sound. We achieved 30mph with those high revs. I didn't want to stay at WOT for more than a few moments, but it seemed to me like we should do the same as Bamaman and increase pitch by one step. We also have the reliance prop. Do you agree? My understanding is that we should try and prop the boat for 6000 rpm at WOT. Thank you all!

I have the same Yamaha 150 engine with Reliance 14-1/4 x 17 prop on a 2013 South Bay 522 CRTT. Top speed is 40 mph gps at 5700 rpm's. I agree with increasing your prop pitch. The redline on the F150 Yammie is about 6000 rpm's, and at around 6300 rpm's the rev limiter shouldn't let you go any faster.

If you've pulled 7000 rpm's, you might want the dealer to check the tachometer for accuracy. If you're really pulling 7000 rpm's, you need a higher pitch prop.

With my given boat, the Reliance 15 pitch was perfect. The 14 pitch prop previously on the boat was about 4 mph slower and it just didn't feel as good (not being a Reliance prop).

You should address the rpm issue quickly, as you don't want to put more hours on the prop. If you scratch the prop, the dealer won't be able to sell it--$500 mistake.

I was just reading a post on the Bennington forum yesterday of someone with the same issue. Their new boat was registering 7000rpm.

The problem was a switch on the back of their tach wasn't set correctly for their motor, V6 vs V8, etc. Sounded like an easy fix. Not sure if this is what you're seeing, but they made it sound pretty common, so maybe.

Yep, could very well be the case here. One of my previous new runabouts had this issue and was easily fixed with changing the tach setting. Rev limiter should prevent going to 7000 rpm's so good chance it's just tach setting.

Thanks guys - I wondered if it was actually the tach and not the prop that was the problem. But then i dismissed it thinking "surely the tach isn't that far off". But maybe it is. Tach was reading 7300-7400 and making 30mph gps upwind with the bimini up.

I am guessing since our top speed was only 30 that both issues are happening - the tach is miscalibrated AND we could benefit from a different pitch. Was expecting to see top speed of 35-40 (am I reasonable?). Maybe on the lower side of that with the wind and bimini. The boat came with two reliance props...was truly impressed that they included a second reliance prop as the spare! Hopefully we can get this dialed in time for the big holiday! Hold on a sec.... Lets review, You got a brand new boat with a built in bar and grill and the only two pics posted are of your wife and your dog??? Am I missing something?

Now if the pics were of your wife at the bar and your loyal companion by her feet, then ok, but no pics of the bar and grill, I say FOUL
