Fuel problem

#1 Post by Heatman » Sat Jul 13, 2013 7:54 am

Well finally got the toon out this week. Sad to say we did not even use it last year. Between the drought and all the other stuff we had going on it just didn't happen.

Got her all cleaned up. Drained all the old gas I could. New fuel, seafoam, new plugs, etc. Ran great! Only problem once on the lake just slowly cruising around after 30 minutes or so it would start running rough and die. I figured out for some reason it was losing it's prime from the fuel tank. I could pump the bulb and it would run for 30 min. again and then do the same thing.

90hp yamaha 2 stroke with built in fuel tank. I had replaced fuel line w/bulb just a couple years ago. Haven't had time to get into it yet but leaning toward a vent problem? Are there any type of check valves or anything installed in these type setups to check?

I would also think it is a vent problem -- possibly crack in the primer bulb allowing air into the line which would lose prime. If you squeeze the bulb a few times, does any fuel leak out on the bulb or lines?
