Added a Ram Ipad mount to the dash, makes following a contour drift a peice of cake when striper fishing.

Nice, I know a guy on a aluminum boat forum I'm on did the same thing...I really like the idea of being able to surf the net on the water. Never know when you might need to look something up....do you have a case on yours? I know the guy I seen on the other forum had the new waterproof case and it seemed like a good idea... Wonder if the saltwater I'm in all the time would have ill effects on it?

My use is on Lake Murray in South Carolina so am not subjecting the ipad to a salt environment. I have it mounted on a 24' pontoon so with caution, do not have much of a problem with spray or rain as it sets under the bimini. The mounts can be purchased for use with the waterproof covers or separate ones for ipads without covers. I do have a waterproof cover but do not like it as it distorts the screen with changing sun angels during the day. My solution, a handy gallon size zip lock freezer bag, if heavy rain or spray is being blown under the bimini.

I'm using the Navonics HD, base price around $49.00 for the ipad app after which I added several upgrades at couple dollars each. Contour lines of the lake bottom down to 10' intervals, can't get much better. The actual ipad holder can be mounted horizontal as well as verticle. This ipad is a 10" screen so it's kinda like settin on the couch, watchin the big screen at home and still gettin to fish.

Navionics ROCKS.... i used it to plot a course down the chattahoochee river... over 100 miles of lake/river/locks. River has lots of bends.... just kept the boat on the 'pre-planned' route (for deepest part of course).... Never a flaw. Even the buoy markers were super accurate on Navionics.

All your info can be shared between devices... Make routes on iPad, use them on iPhone. Send the route to Google Earth.... can see it there too!

I got one of these last year. Great mount. I use a Sosche FM transmitter and play my tunes through the radio. I like the fact that I can play my music and have weather radar up as well.

Technology is a wonderful thing, We had some friends on the boat last year that are not very techie and we were talking about music and one said they really liked a certain song which I did not have. While we talking and listening to the music, I went out to iTunes and downloaded the song. When I started playing it a couple of minutes later, you should have seen the look on their faces. When I explained how I did it, they were stunned that you could do this.

Who would have thought ten years ago that you could sit in a boat in the middle of the lake and download music!
