My sister n law says no one pays attention to boat names

#1 Post by HandymanHerb » Tue Jul 16, 2013 3:06 pm

Then when they had it out last Saturday and a woman asked about the name, said she never heard of that builder, I told my brother he should have told her it was a special order, one of a kind, SIL and her Cousins wife wanted to change it from Funship to Sunship, it's going to be a shade ship to me, I'm staying under the Bimini or under the deck when swimming around the boat.

Trying to slow my SIL down long enough so we can get it finished, the engine checked as it was losing RPM's last time out and we need to get it propped right, She wants to get it out every chance she gets, my brother's birthday is Saturday and she is ready to spend the day on the water, my brother said I'm not working on it on the water, the steering is still popping out so he going to get the boat guy check and see if he can get it to stay in or tell us what is wrong and we will order replacement parts.

The best part is we have a new boat with no new payments, Thanks to PontoonStuff.com for supplying the parts and our hard work to get her done right.

I guarentee you don't need parts for the steering...it's just not seated right. Look at these pictures: In the fist shot you can see the spring loaded pull pin (pen pointer). Directly opposite is the safety locking bolt. To get the cable seated properly you must: A) make sure the bolt is all the way out, B) pull out on the spring loaded pin (photo 2), and C) feed the cable all the way in. This process works best when the opposite end is not hooked to your motor, as some times you need to actually use the leverage from the rotary helm to pull the cable all the way in and get it seated properly. Then make sure you tighten down the safety bolt snug and you're ready to roll...

We done that many times over, we might have got a bad one, that's why we are going to have it looked at to know what the problem is, we might have a cable problem as it jumps out on both sides, we know because the boat guys brother had it rigged wrong when we picked it up and it was kicking out of the wrong side too, I had it rigged right and it wasn't popping out we we sent it to the shop.

But we will get on that today and try to get the bugs out you get with a new build.

Thanks for all complements on the toons guys, the SIL said we were crazy to go to all that trouble polishing everything, but she doesn't seem to mind all complements it gets on the water or just sitting there on the trailer.

Found piece of junk stopping the cable from snapping all the way in, removed it and it snapped right in, then we put windshield on, the other Captains seat and tables put in, moved the water presure line moved to the pisser side, where it should in the first place, so it would show flow and will peg out, if the pisser get clogged again, that's how I knew it was wrong.

And that was after getting back to my brother's, after we all went out to diner to celebrate his and my Dad's birthday the day before, Dad said you know your old when the baby of the family turns 51.
