what about this prop

#1 Post by Shopguy » Wed Jul 17, 2013 12:44 pm

Anyone ever run a 15x15 prop? Currently running a 14 5/8"x17. Loaded at 5000rpm. Ran 39 with two teenagers the wife and me. Would like to get the R's up a bit since that was a light load for us that day. 15x15 or 14.5x15?

For the F150 Yamaha, the best prop you can get will be the Yamaha Reliance 15 pitch prop.

My boat's pulling 6000 rpm's @ 40 mph with that prop/engine combination, and it's a good compromise in every way.

Shopguy, let me know what speeds (GPS) you are running at 2000/3500 and WOT, and note the top RPM's. Give me the max RPM's your motor can run and I'll toss the numbers on my Prop program and see what we come up with. By going 15X15, you may not gain much. The added diameter will pull down the slip number and in turn, reduce the RPMs. Now a 15X14 or 13 pitch, may be the answer.
We can work on it for ya....

I found my Etec loved Renegades and Vipers, I would try a 15X14 Viper. The lowest pitched Renegade is a 15, is a big eared prop, not much slip, so it probably won't gain much, may loose RPM's. The 16 you want to try will probably drop your RPM's more. Pontoons like alot of cup in props, to reduce slippage.
