I agree with the rest of the guys here on the forum. This is a great open forum and because of that we as a group need to understand that there are a lot of people on the internet which watch every thing that we post so we need to be fair in all are posts. :2cents

Yep. I also got a PM from Manitiou asking for it to be edited. NOT going to happen. This is NOT PDB. :nobrady

uh oh!!! Hey as long as they take care of it I don't think they should worry. Did it go to far? yes it did. Things get heated all the time in life. Is it bad PR? Maybe, but they kind of made their bed, so as long as it gets resolved why should they even want to edit it? Positive PR trumps negative PR especially if the customer is happy albeit eventually... IMHO.

Once its been replaced, I dont have a problem with adding a resolution note to the first post. I really dont think it should be taken down however...

I think what mike has suggested would be extremely fair and a class act. If a resolution does happen, to put the note in the first post. That way, any person who opens the post will see the (hopefully) happy result and then, could choose to go read the whole happenings of the event. Very good idea and it does speak to the people running this very good site. Kudos to all.

I completely agree with the two posts above . . . leave the thread up and intact but a red NOTE in the first post stating Manitou made this right is the way to go. I might suggest doing something similar in the title - like a little "(problem solved)" added after the word "Warranty."

It is great that the boat is going to get fixed as it should. Now as far as editing the thread I believe it should be left alone. Maybe add the " problem solved " or some thing like that. When manitou joined they did what we wll did and accepted the terms and conditions.

So let me get this straight, Manitiou ignores the fact that this guy has unauthorized welding done on their toon and honors the warranty anyway and they don't want folks on this forum to know about it????? I bet there are many pontoon manufacturers out there who wouldn't step up like Manitiou did. In fact, I'm amazed. I though Manitiou was going to say "go pound sand" for sure. The way I see it, Manitiou did nothing wrong here and in fact they went way above and beyond to help this guy out. After this, I wouldn't hesitate for one second to get a Manitiou. Go figure.

Ya, I agree. In the middle, I thought it was getting out of hand and should be dropped, for the good of both Dan and Manitou. But since the two have gotten together and resolved the problem, I agree, it should remain, with the tag on the post. I kind of felt caught in the middle, because I'm a super strong supporter of Manitou, I know alot of the folks there personally, from when Denise and I did the Customer Testimonial Video and Brochure shoot, I came to know these folks as family. And I also know Dan from working with him on his boat. And even though Dan had the repair made elsewhere, because it was handier for him and available, Manitou has agreed to replace the pontoon in question. I feel thats great and I'm glad its being taken care of. Again, nothing against my Premier or the company, I really do love it and Premier has treated me right, but Manitou still rocks #1 in my book. If they need me for a special project, or decide to build my dream boat that I have been begging them to build for years, I'll be right there!

I wrote this right before Slingshots post, I was late on the draw (Thanks Buddy, beat me again!) And I think we are on the same wavelengths... Too bad it came to some negativity, but hey we are all human. Its being taken care of and I think Dan will be a happy customer, again. I know he can't wait to get his boat wet!

This is just my opinion, and, assuming Manitou follows through and fixes the boat, reading this thread would probably not keep me from buying a Manitou in the future.

However, one thing that bothers me now is Manitou sending a PM to the site requesting editing the thread. If they want to add a post, clarifying their position, pointing out errors in another post, tell their side of the story, etc. that is fine. However, sending a PM to an administrator to request editing a thread seems to borderline on being deceptive.

Requesting an edit is also a risky strategy in event the Site choses to maintain integrity and not bend to their wishes. Thumbs up to Badmoonrising for standing his ground.

Makes me wonder who is advising Manitou regarding PR. I might be looking for some better advisors.

I don't have a problem with them telling their side of the story - but do it out in the open, don't request an edit to bury what you don't like.

Again, just my 2 cents, and maybe not even worth that,
