Yep. I also got a PM from Manitiou asking for it to be edited. NOT going to happen. This is NOT PDB. :nobrady

So let me get this straight, Manitiou ignores the fact that this guy has unauthorized welding done on their toon and honors the warranty anyway and they don't want folks on this forum to know about it????? I bet there are many pontoon manufacturers out there who wouldn't step up like Manitiou did. In fact, I'm amazed. I though Manitiou was going to say "go pound sand" for sure. The way I see it, Manitiou did nothing wrong here and in fact they went way above and beyond to help this guy out. After this, I wouldn't hesitate for one second to get a Manitiou. Go figure.

Yep.. Bob's your uncle.. Manitou is a mighty fine company.

Bryden24shp wrote:Ya, I agree. In the middle, I thought it was getting out of hand and should be dropped, for the good of both Dan and Manitou. But since the two have gotten together and resolved the problem, I agree, it should remain, with the tag on the post. I kind of felt caught in the middle, because I'm a super strong supporter of Manitou, I know alot of the folks there personally, from when Denise and I did the Customer Testimonial Video and Brochure shoot, I came to know these folks as family. And I also know Dan from working with him on his boat. And even though Dan had the repair made elsewhere, because it was handier for him and available, Manitou has agreed to replace the pontoon in question. I feel thats great and I'm glad its being taken care of. Again, nothing against my Premier or the company, I really do love it and Premier has treated me right, but Manitou still rocks #1 in my book. If they need me for a special project, or decide to build my dream boat that I have been begging them to build for years, I'll be right there!

I wrote this right before Slingshots post, I was late on the draw (Thanks Buddy, beat me again!) And I think we are on the same wavelengths... Too bad it came to some negativity, but hey we are all human. Its being taken care of and I think Dan will be a happy customer, again. I know he can't wait to get his boat wet!
Bryan

PLUS 1 for sure.. ...I sent a FB email to Manitou, alerting them to the original post here,I just wanted Manitou folks to know that they needed to read the posts, because a LOT of folks read this forum. Manitou responds QUICK through Facebook as do more social media savy companies now a days, thumbs way up to Manitou!

Well, a rep DID come in here and call Dan a liar, PM'd me asking to edit posts and then ANOTHER rep takes over that user account and also asks me to edited/move and maybe delete the thread.

Manitou WAS going to tell Dan to go pound sand. After the boat was inspected by a marine surveyor, it was found to be defective. All Mantou had to do was send a rep out to look at the boat and they refused to do so and got nasty with a customer.

Only after they read this thread they decided to be fair.

The boat was welded to prevent it from taking on water after teh selling dealer refused to help. Not sure how that is Dan's fault. :donno

Oh...Manitou also asked me to delete the selling dealer's name...that is absolute BS. Bad dealers should be "outed".

Dan, way to many " coulda, woulda, shoulda's " with this thing.... the upshot is they're going to fix your boat and that my friend is wonderful news... Congratulations, Glad it's going to work out for you... soon now you can get back to just enjoying your boat.... btw, I too agree the post should remain BUT with the disclaimer everyone has already mentioned ( provided the boat get's repaired ).

I am glad Manitou stepped up to address this in the way it should have been handled in the beginning. What some companies dont understand is that the 3 or 4 grand this ultimately cost them for the survey and replacement is nothing compared to losing just 1 future customer. Hopefully they have learned from this and I can consider Manitou when the time comes.

Glad to hear Manitou is stepping up, as they should. But in my opionion, the 9 pages somebody would have to read through is a bit much. My suggestion would be (after the boat is fixed), this thread be edited only by removing posts that were not from OP or Manitou or at least contributed to the overall message of the thread. There are several "I can't believe they did that" sort of posts that are just making this a long thread. I've tried to keep up but somebody seeing this for the first time would get tired after page 4 and would never make it to the end (at 9 pages now and I'm sure there will be more).

In my opinion we should leave it with the disclaimer of resolved on the front page....

Moderator Request

#129 Post by ishoot » Fri Aug 23, 2013 10:54 am

Moderators, As a gesture of good faith, I respectfully request that the following be added in red to the end of my original post. I want to be perfectly clear that this request is from me and me alone and I was never asked by Manitou to do this.

Thanks!!

Dan

All; Through private conversations and a conference call with Manitou’s Vice President and Director of Marketing and communications, I am very happy to report that this issue has been completely resolved to my satisfaction.

I ask that all who care to read this entire thread, please understand that a simple lack of communication was at the root of this problem from BOTH myself and Manitou. Things got heated and mistakes were made…we all make mistakes... how those mistakes get corrected and how we learn from them, is what’s important.

Manitou has now completely addressed my concerns and has agreed to completely repair my boat at no cost. What else could one ask for!!

Thank you Manitou!!!

What happened to "pic's or it didn't happen" ? I'm glad to hear that it's resolved but if it isn't fixed and you can't safely use the boat then I would hold off on calling it good. Now on the other hand a 10% discount offer code on new manitou boats for forum members would go a a long way to making us all feel better L.O.L.

I would like to see this made into a separate stand alone thread, for people who join later can see positive results of people coming together as was here, as of today coming up on 3000 people who have read this thread.
This will make a great case study in most business classes you have every element you can ask for. I doubt the outcome now would have been the same 10 years ago.
As for those who still cling to "unauthorized" welding I'm i correct in the following:
Ishooter had unauthorized weld failures done by the authorized Manitou welder, which were then fixed by the unauthorized welder who's weld up to this point have held?
