New to me Boat
After looking for several months I bought my toy.
Now she has some minor things I'm going to take care of....
First is the fuel tank sending unit. I have no idea what brand it is the tank is from Moeller Marine. I'll figure that out pretty quick .
Second is the stereo only has 2 speakers. I bought 2 more. I have no plans on being the guy that you can hear miles away but still want to hear good tunes. Now this one is going to be a little harder. The bases are plastic no big deal cutting through them but the vinyl might get tricky. Any suggestions?
Third is the depth finder. The fuse isn't there I did find that it's a .25a 250v. Something caused it to blow I just have to find what.. Any suggestions on this one?
Fourth is the speedometer. The pilot hole is clear tubing doesn't have any kinks or splits.... Not sure what to do with this one. Those parts are cheap may just buy new...
Fifth the gas cap is broken I haven't seen anything like this one but am still looking. Worse case I'll buy a different style.
Forgot bought a couple LEDs for the front I'll get those on as soon as they get here....
Well there ya have it that's my to do list for now.

Re: New to me Boat
Adding to the list. We decided to take her out this past weekend. Got to the water around 4 in the afternoon. Backed her into the water she fired up then died.... after tinkering with her for a few in the water we had to pull her out and try to figure out what was going on. We found a "Y" fuel fitting leaking bad. Tried a few paces close by but nothing. Ended up rigging up a tee fitting and some new hose. Back in the water around 6:30. We didn't put her back on the trailer until around 11:00. Ran fine on the top end but she won't idle for long, rpms bounce from 400rpms to 1200rpms for a bit then she dies. This is a real pain so this is at the top of my list on things to fix!

Re: New to me Boat
Going to try and run a couple gallons of gas with carb cleaner first, then may have to have them rebuilt....I'm fairly mechanical but not sure about rebuilding and getting them all three back on correctly. I remember my Dad doing this years ago and he ended up having to take the boat in due the carbs not operating right after.

One thing I learned watching those restoration tv shows is taking videos or pictures of every part as it is being removed so you can reverse the process to assemble.

Re: New to me Boat
Ok so I haven't really kept up with this.... I replaced the Y fuel line hoping it might have been the issue with the idle issue. Well that helped some. It's idling smoother but will still cut out. Another issue arose the last trip out. The throttle linkage to the carbs kept falling off. I ordered new bushings, they won't arrive until late next week. So we are supposed to have a nice day Sunday and we were wanting to take her out. So I did a little redneck enginneering... Here's a pic.
A really small drill bit and a small cotter pin should take care of the problem
