Wow, looks scary enough trying to get the boat up there. I'd hate to unload it, looks like a lot of stress being put on the trailer! If you look close, the wheels aren't even touching the ramp. All the stress is on the trailer tongue. And not to think about trailer sway with the top heavy boat!

I was watching that thinking Why? And then it all becomes clear in the last second or 2. Nice set up.
Scary though. I wouldn't want to be towing it.

Re: Not sure about this.
That would work for the real low water ramps and keep the tolls down too, some states will let you tow double, but this works, it looks like he is a full timer living on the road, my Dad and Mom did that for 10 years, only came back to Fla when it got cold and stayed a few months, moving from campground to campground every two weeks.
If they traded parks every two weeks it didn't cost them any lot rent or electric with the park deal they bought into, they loved it and lived in the bus till Mom passed away, Now Dad still gets out in it three or four months a year, but now has a home to stay in again the rest of the year.
So I can see him hitting different fishing or boating spots and spending a few weeks to a month covering it good and then moving on to the next spot, I'm sure he has the top heavy part taken care of as it looks like he spent a buck or two getting it made, it would great to be able to travel around checking out all the lakes in the USA, he can always head to Fla during the winter time so he could toon year around and see the USA too!!!

Re: Not sure about this.
Anyone that can afford a motorhome that expensive ought to have someone available to drive the pickup and tow the pontoon boat. It has the potential to be a very big legal liability--if the thing flew off the truck onto another trailing vehicle.
When you're taking such a trip, what's another $.25 per mile?

It looks fake to me. Look at the space between the rear tire and the fender. It doesn't even move when all that weight is added.

If he tried to drive that thru Indy he would not make it far. He might make it thru a couple of bridges before he loses the toon

Re: Not sure about this.
Go back and take a look at the jack in the Reese hitch, that's why you didn't see it move, I told you these people got it rigged right, I been around many full timers, they do it right, my Dad towed a full size caddy and they had the brakes hooked up to the air brakes would activate the car brakes till he bought a Honda CRV, now days he pulls a VW Diesel, since he switched the four cylinder in the bus, he now has more HP ,a Auto transmission and three stage exhaust braking (that doesn't make noise) you only use the brakes when coming to a full stop, so with the cruise control and exhaust I drove 400 miles with my feet flat on the floor, never touching the skinny pedal or the brakesbrumbyvet wrote:It looks fake to me. You're allowed 13'6" and I bet he is right at that height. Figure the top of the truck cab is 6.5' or so plus 7' for height of the toon.Heatman wrote:If he tried to drive that thru Indy he would not make it far. He might make it thru a couple of bridges before he loses the toon

Re: Not sure about this.
I don't know..but that looks like a bad accident waiting to happen.
Also, I wonder how they stop the trailer from bouncing and hitting the roof while traveling. At the end of the video you can see the trailer bounce slightly before it rests. I know they have it strapped down but if you hit a pothole at 55mph that thing is going flex somewhat.

Re: Not sure about this.
I think the guy said it was no higher than his motorhome so it should be ok as far as height goes.

Looks like he has it down, but thats not for me! I'm sure its safe, he's probably been pulled over by the Highway Patrol or DOT a few times to be checked out, so its must be ok.
