Gauges for a 60hp Mercury

#1 Post by fastbackford » Tue Oct 08, 2013 4:00 pm

I recently bought a 2013 Mercury Bigfoot 60hp and would like to get at least a basic set of gauges so I can keep an eye on what is going on with my investment. My 5 year, top to prop warranty does not cover over-heating so that's the biggie.

I'd like to install a water pressure gauge but I was snooping around my engine and I can not see a tap. Is there a factory tap for a water pressure gauge on these motors? btw, What psi do these new 4 strokes run?

I'd also like to install an oil pressure gauge but again, I don't know where on the motor they connect? Any knowledge you guys can drop on me would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

You could get a mercury monitor and it would give you:
engine alarm values, engine temp, engine diagnostics, battery voltage, troll control, fuel flow/level/range, engine hours, engine guardian

No oil pressure value is available.
The nice thing about the gauge is if you get an engine alarm, it will tell you what it is for. you won't have to dicier beep codes with your manual.
Your engine would beep and the monitor would say "oil pressure low" if you lost oil pressure.
It can also display all this data on a nmea 2000 compatable chart plotter if you have one.

I have one for my optimax, and I am happy with it.
