End of expensive first year pontoon owner

The summer was great on Lay Lake here in Alabama. Just not enough time to spend on lake. Only real problem was the Saturday my son and his family were out and hit a stump. Tow back to marina and a prop later and back on water.

The expensive part comes in what happened this past week. We so thoroughly enjoyed the boat and time on water that we have committed to buy a 2005 Double wide trailer waterfront on Logan Martin Lake with dock. Wife fell in love with the house at first sight. Has a double carport/garage with storage on one end big enough to get the pontoon out of the weather. I am thinking weekends, vacations and in few years may think of retirement to the lake.

Also upgraded boat--Double wide owner,an 89 year old gentleman, also had a spotless 21 foot 2007 Bennington with 90 hp. 4 stroke Yamaha. Hour meter shows 67 hours. So as soon as I drag the Starcraft back and cleaned up six months in water it will be up for sale.

Can not wait for spring and full pool again.

Wow congrats on great year. We lived 1 mile from our fav lake for 21 years until we got to old to take care of a 3 acre lawn.

You want a full pool year round, move 2 hours up here to Muscle Shoals.

And don't worry about the money spent. If we can get the politicians to do something halfway right, the stock market will come storming back to an all time high. Let's start by voting all the bums out of office and bring in 100% new blood.

As far as getting a low hour Bennington, you did right. Bennies are sold about fast as they hit the used boat market, and they're top of the line. I just hope my new Bennie lasts as long as my old Starcraft pontoon--27 years.

Money spent on boat and lake place is better invested than it was in market. Alabama Power is pulling all the lakes on Coosa river down now. Lay is scheduled to drop 10-15 feet before the end of the month at the dam for repairs. That will leave most of the marinas and lakefront properties in the dry for a while.

for the short time we lived in Alabama we rented a home on Lewis Smith Lake with water front & boat dock & we loved that spot.

Smith is a beautiful lake. Killer stripe fishing.
