Seasons end

#1 Post by MH Hawker » Mon Nov 04, 2013 7:49 am

As bad as I hate to say it it looks like its all most over for the year, the temps are hitting 40 during the days and 30 or lower at night and the promised Indian summer aint happening, their starting to drop the lake into winter pool, but SOB I am not ready to give it up yet, the fishing sucked this year from all of the rain and the boat has ran fine and their isnt much of a work improvement list. Its gonna be a damm long winter. I just barley managed to clock 75 hours and last year i got in 164 so its been a slow year.

We drove past Lake Nottley on the way home from Helen, GA last week, and it was way down. Wheeler Lake's water level was down a little, but Guntersville didn't appear to be as low.

Sorry that Allatoona has already been dropped to allow room for the Spring rains. It just seems to be a few weeks early to drop water levels.

I'm spoiled on Wilson Lake, as we've got a maximum 3' drop throughout the year. Our dam's a big electricity maker, and it requires solid water pressure to make that free juice.

You haven't seen a lake down...we're down 38 ft since Labor Day on Fontana Lake, with another 17 ft to go...we drop 55 ft every winter here in the mountains of western NC!

We had a inch or of snow this last week so I guess I should pull it. Damn the summer went to fast.

Hey Nathan,
What's really strange about Travis is that it has been down so long that folks are building new boat houses at the new level?!?!

a lot have gone to floating docks. there are plenty of spots on the lake that there is no water now and the docks just sit on the ground. some with boats still in them. if it keeps down it will be a river in a few years instead of a lake.

Yeah bud, that's why I've gotta have my GPS equipped depth finder with inland lake maps. I LOVE that thing for peace of mind (I don't know the lake well enough). We spent a few good weeks on Travis this summer, though. There were 6' trees on "Sometimes Islands". Maybe see you there sometime. :biggrin2
