Suzuki wiring control question
I'm changing my side mount control w/ignition to a top mount with separate ignition switch. The wiring harness at the control end has bullet terminals, the ignition swt. has a blk. round 8 pin connector & blu. 2 pin connector, the shift control has a blk. 3 pin & blu. 2 pin. I'm I right in assuming a short adapter harness is available ? Engine is a 2005 90 horse df.
Re: Suzuki wiring control question
hey, ezrollin. i personally don't know suzuki's systems. but i put a side controller for omc on my boat but wanted to use the switch mounted in the helm,so i took the controller apart to get switch and wiring harness out of it then rerouted my wiring in to helm and mounted switch in place of original.the hardest part was the neutral safety switch re-wire&p.t.t.it works great and the safety kill still works
if it ain't broke-it ain't ours

Re: Suzuki wiring control question
Thanks for your input. I found a Suzuki 7' adapter cable that has the round connector on one end and the square connector on the other. I don't know if there's a short cable available to connect them or if I will have to cut one end and splice them. I'll call a Suzuki dealer tomorrow they should know.

Re: Suzuki wiring control question
Thanks for you input, after doing some online research I realize what I have is a pre 2005 control box with a 2005 16 pin connector on the end. I need a longer harness/cable set for my project so I just decided to sale the sidemount with harness and cables and but a new harness. Your advice is well taken, pics can be your friend.MH Hawker wrote:Take lots and lots of pictures of wires and connection points it will save your ass.
