Premier Deal Question

#1 Post by russelljackson » Sun Jan 12, 2014 12:43 am

Hey Guys,

Been looking at a Premier this weekend and was wondering if it sounded like a good deal, bad deal or about right. It's a new 2013 SunSation 200, tri-toon with an ETEC 150. Unusual to see a tri-toon and a 150 on a 20 foot pontoon for sure. From talking to them, sounds like it could be had for around 29K. Beautiful boat. Appreciate your thoughts and opinions...

Is it a regular tri-toon or a PTX package and what other options are on the boat? Does it come with a trailer? Double bimini, full enclosure, etc?

You don't see many 20' tritoons with 150 hp motors. The price difference between 20 and 22' or 24' is not really that much, and the longer hulls are much more seaworthy. The price is good, however.

I would think that 20' had 3 25" toons and not the PTX hull.

Thanks guys. It's the triple log 25 inchers. Pretty sure I saw strakes too. It also has the elevated helm and the cool turboswing around the motor for towables.

I'm sitting here looking at the 2014 Premier brochure. I have the 2010 to 2012, but no 2013. Did they give you a 2013 Brochure?

Based on the data in hand, it appears that it only has 19' of deck length. Depending on your family size, that could get real small. For two to four people with gear/coolers it would be just right. I have a Premier 221 cast A way (Fishing model) that has a 21' deck. At the time of purchase I thought that would be plenty. I was coming from a 18' Sea Cat. My new Premier's 21' deck is barely big enough with six people aboard, I wish that I had bought a 24' model.

I paid 23K for mine with trailer, 115 Honda, ski tow bar, trolling motor and sea star power steering . Comparably with a trailer yours should be about 34K, based on the trip toons, raised helm, 150 power and extended swim platform. Without a trailer, 29K seems to be about the normal (asking) price for a stealer wanting to clear out inventory. In MHO that's too high.

Offer him 25K if you can live with the small deck. The resale will not be as good as the more popular 22' to 24' models..... That's why he still has it. No one else wanted it before you came along. If its just you and your wife that will be mostly riding in it and you're not going to get a case of the two foot 'short" in two years, Negotiate a couple more K off it..... And enjoy. If you need room for 6 - 8 people Forgetaboutit.

Kind regards,

Rascal

We have a premier 23.5 elite. It is just right size for a family of 4 and some freinds. I recommend a pontoon larger than 20 feet.
