Need new mooring cover...

#1 Post by justrfb » Wed Jan 15, 2014 8:57 am

Hello All.
I am in North Jersey and we are in the middle of winter but I think we are near the "hump" if not over it as far as winter goes (winter started real early this year...). I may be way early but I am already starting to think about getting on the water this year. We bought a 20' 2007 Princecraft last year with a 75 4 stroke Merc hanging off the back... Wasn't the best year last year for us... weather was bad in June, lost our dog in early July (came back in 4 days, thank God), my mother-in-law passed mid July and the rest of the summer was lost to grieving, taking care of my father-in-law and the estate... Almost sold the boat but now we are VERY GLAD we didn't... Cause then we would be looking for another one now! Everything with our boat is grand except for, the mooring cover. What is the best way to get another "custom fit" (OEM or other) mooring cover? Ours is worn, beat, faded, stretched, has a few holes... What is our best course of action to acquire a nice, new, well fitting one please?... Thank you so much for your help and assistance.

Sincerely,
Rich

You can check with a Princecraft dealer to see if OEM covers are available.

Or, you can find a awning or marine upholstery company that could custom make one for you. Another option would be to find one of the boat cover manufacturers online that does custom work. I know there are a couple of those shops in SW Ohio. They pop up in Google search.

I use my mooring cover for the winter, but it's just such a hassle to use in the Summer. I'm fortunate that my boat's kept hanging in a boathouse and doesn't get rained on directly.

Or you can look at the top right of the page and order for Pontoon Stuff and get 10 percent off

Thank you for the information. I already looked at the covers on Pontoon Stuff and was just about to "pull the trigger" so to speak and then I saw the words... "Not for on water use" or something to that effect. We will probably be "slipping" the boat this year so I want to have a nice fitting, easy to use, protective cover. Thanks.

Rich

I think you need to look a little closer, they have many types and I didn't find couldn't be used on the water yet, I got the travel one myself in case I want to pull it a long distance

Hello All.
Thanks for the help... I now see the issue. Our boat is 20' and the mooring covers on the Pontoon Stuff website skip the 20' boat range. I will call Pontoon Stuff and ask if they have or can get our size. Can someone chime in and let me know their thoughts and experience on the mooring covers offered by Pontoon Stuff please? Thank you.

Sincerely,
Rich

I like theirs better than my old custom snap cover. It is super strong if you are keeping it on the water though, you should definitely call them and make sure it'll work.

Ty should be along shortly and be able to answer your questions.

Here are some pics I took of my new cover I got with my rebuild I am still getting used to how to put it on the best though. It is definitely a learning curve.
