Check this out

#1 Post by Mrtoler » Fri Jan 31, 2014 1:08 pm

Thought I'd share this pic I seen on Facebook of the new 12' minnkota talon mounted on a premier castaway pontoon....I'd really like to put one on my new toon, I know it would make quick anchoring in shallow water to chase fish ALOT easier!

This is the jackplate mount and it looks like its the side mount version, I'm just curious how it will work? Minnkota told me that they need to be completely out of the flow of water when underway!

Have to be out of the flow of water???? Then the way they have that one mounted won't work, will it? Unless that boat only has a 1/2" draft :lol3

I spent some time on a center console Friday that had one of those. It caused a lot of back splash because it was partially obstructing the out flow. I think it might have even effected our WOT top speed. I sure like the idea of the convenience of using one in the shallows, especially when beaching at the sand bars. Been thinking of ways to have a nice stainless steel 1/2" rod on-board to drive down in the sand or mud to simply clip the boat to.

I currently have a stick it anchor pin and it held my old toon great but it could still be a hassle to get setup sometimes. Don't get me wrong though, sometimes it was very simple to stop the boat grab the pole and with one try be anchored, but in any current it can be hard... That's the beauty of the talon or power pole... Just hit a button and your stopped! I like the talon over the power pole myself because it has a quick release kit so it can be moved from boat to boat in minutes
