Premier Boundary Water 31

Hoping to get some feedback from any of you that have a Premier BW 31. My wife and I have a place on a fairly windy lake and we are wondering how they handle. We are looking at the 10ft wide model and probably going with one motor. Poss a Verado 300 motor. Also, wondering if anyone has experience with Sea Legs on a large pontoon. Thanks for any and all help.

thats a big boat. the PTX will help, but its still alot of mass to move through the water/wind. my standard width premier at 25ft moves pretty will with a 225 and handles pretty well also. with my single deck and bimini, the wind can move us around pretty well when trying to anchor or dock. i can only imagine a 10ft wide 31ft toon with an upper deck would be much more of a "sail" in the wind. good luck and welcome to the forum.

Won't make a difference as it's the sides that catch the wind, two foot wider will just give you more room and the sea legs should work as you not adding that much more weight, but you won't be putting it on a trailer for sure, not without permits

My computer is running so slow!! Handy, I will only be trailering for service and storage. Also, not planning on upper tier. My family is growing and our 22 foot x 8.5 is not big enough anymore. Soooo, yea we need to get into the large economy size toons. Our 22 ft was difficult to dock when the wind was howling, and so thats why i am a little concerned about the longer, wider toon. I have not been on a toon this size and I need to order soon if we want to have it by boating season. Thanks for your feed back. Jafo9, did you have a non Premier before your 25 PTX? Just wondering if the PTX is worth the extra cash?

We had a 22 foot Premier Sunsation LTD 2 log with a 90 and upgraded to the 22 foot Sunsation LTD PTX with the 150. in our opinion if you are planning on any watersports, tubing/skiing or just want to go fast, and handle great, then the PTX is well worth the extra$$$

Adding my two cents based on our experience with a 25x10 Premier:

It's a lot if boat. The Extra width makes it a better sail so docking will be more difficult in windy conditions. Also, I share slip space with another boat and the width just makes for less space for errors.

Unless you plan to only go for moderate speeds, get the PTX and the 300. I can get a flat 40 mph out of mine with a 225 VRod when the toons are cleaned and conditions are right. I would expect low 30s on a 31 footer with a 300. If I was only going for two toons, I might go for a lower size motor and live with going slow.

The GM is a beautiful boat and you will enjoy it a great deal.

Another point that I left out of the previous post.

We opted for no trailer as it does require a wide load permit to move it. If you buy a trailer then you should not plan on using it more than twice a year in most years. However, make sure that if you do not buy a trailer and opt for your dealer to manage your boat that they have a trailer for a ten wide.

We really like our ten wide but we needed it for the space for our daughters wheelchair. If we did not have that need, I would not have done a ten wide.

Thanks for the feedback. We do have a grand daughter that has a wheelchair also. And our family is really growing fast. Hoping that the larger toon will accommodate our growing family. Also, our lake can get very rough on windy days and when our current pontoon is loaded with family we have dove into some waves and the water came washing over the pontoon. It was actually kind of frightening. i am hoping the PTX will keep us on top of the waves and make for a safer day out on the lake. TowDaddy, do you have a slip, or a hoist? We will be having a local marina pull the toon in the spring and fall. The closest dealer is about an hour and a half away.

If the lake is rough, you definitely want the PTX package for bot the performance and flotation. On a 31 footer this will be the regular PTX which is a 36 inch toon.

Why, yes it is. We have been on the Hardy since 1995.

That is a nice area. We had a place on Big Whitefsh for a few years. Now we are in leelanau county. I love it up north. Who did you end up dealing with for your boat?

We got ours at Premier Motorsports in Wayland. The dealers have a handicapped sister and know how to set up for a wheelchair. They have been exceptional for us over the years and I would recommend them to anyone.
