Pontoon Cleaners

#1 Post by woodrifters » Mon Mar 10, 2014 4:27 am

New to the forum. Looking for the best options for tube cleaning. I have heard about Toon Brite but would like to consider others if there are anything better out there. Thanks

Either will work fine--spray on with pump up yard sprayer. Rinse with clean water.

The finish may be dull but clean. Restoring the shiny finish might require using a dual action polisher with a wool bonnet and a high quality metal/aluminum polish. (Mother's aluminum polish is not a good product for this use.)

Many use Sharkhide to maintain the shine, but the toons have to be completely clean of all black oxide. I find cleaning the toons with lacquer cleaner to remove the black oxide is 10x as much work as I want to do.

It only takes me 60-90 minutes 1x per year to polish three nose cones and the outsides of two toons.

We spent 2 days cleaning our toons inside and out with Streakmaster aluminum brightener. We've used this for 3 years and it's non toxic. I here a lot about sharkhide and will be investigating that.

If you use JJ's Best be sure not to let it touch your anodized aluminum, it will remove the anodization, I can testify to that.

Sharkhide is a protectant. Once you get them clean put on a couple of coats of sharkhide and you should be waterline free for 3+ years. For leaning get some AC Coil cleaner at any autozone etc. and get to scrubbing.

Sharkhide also makes an excellent cleaner, and metal polish.
