agm batterys and yamaha
Last season, I decided it was time to replace the battery in my boat ( 1 battery set up ) but because of a number of reasons, we ended up using the boat only 3 or 4 times so I never replaced the battery. At the time I wanted to go with a AGM battery, but then I started reading various posts from different sites that Yamaha did not recommend using agm batteries with their outboards, something to do with the charging system. .... so yesterday I called Yamaha and asked a tech about it... what I was told was as of this past January, Yamaha has changed it's position on using agm batteries. He stopped short of "recommending" them, only thing he said was that at one time Yamaha did not recommend using them, but now they have changed their position..... I don't know what could have changed that would have them change their position, but I thought that maybe some of you yamaha owners who may have put off buying an agm battery would like to know yamaha's current take on it. I also know of several people who have used agm's all along with their yammys and haven't had a problem......

Re: agm batterys and yamaha
My sears agm has been happy with my yamaha for several seasons now. I wonder why yamaha is changing their tune.
