Thank you. Your boat looks great. I'm excited to see how the PTX works. We have a pretty good size crew and it seems to grow every year, so we really need the space to accommodate. You should see toon weather a lot sooner then we see nice toon weather.

I'm curious about towing a boat this large. Several have mentioned the need for a permit. Is that just for interstate use, or if you live maybe 5 minutes away from a lake and take local roads, is a permit needed then?

If it's on all roads, this would seem like a huge pain for service needs.

Looks like the law differentiates from "interstate highways" and "highways". According to this section, it uses "highways" and not "interstate highways".

"304.170. 1. No vehicle operated upon the highways of this state shall have a width, including load, in excess of one hundred two inches, except clearance lights, rearview mirrors or other accessories required by federal, state or city law or regulation. Provided however, a recreational vehicle as defined in section 700.010 may exceed the foregoing width limits if the appurtenances on such recreational vehicle extend no further than the rearview mirrors. Such mirrors may only extend the distance necessary to provide the required field of view before the appurtenances were attached."

I think "legally", you need a permit. As far as maintenance, you get a big toy you got to play with the big boys. My father-in-law had a Sea Ray and he had to get it serviced in the water or float/drive it in the water to a local marina and if that was not an option then he had to get a permit to trailer it.

The dealer is almost two hours away from our place. However, the marina that services my boats, docks etc.. is 5 minutes away and I don't think we will have any issues bringing the toon to the water in the spring and bringing it back to his place in the fall. If we have some type of warranty issue, we will have to work that out with the dealer.

Congrats on the new boat.

Keep in mind that if you choose not to buy a trailer then make sure that the dealer you are using has a trailer that will handle a 10 ft wide boat. Not all of them do.

Good Call Jeff. The dealer said he would sell my service marina a trailer at cost. Which means I will probably have to buy the trailer. I believe he said they run about $5,000. Do you trailer your boat?

We decided not to buy a trailer. Our dealer is about an hour from our marina. They pick up the boat in the the Fall and drop off the boat in the Spring. This was an issue as not having a trailer means you are dependent on your dealer but we have a very good dealer.

The dealer picks up our boat in the Fall, winterizes it, cleans it, shrink wraps it, and stores it over the winter. In the spring, they will acid clean the toon, do any needed service, and then do a full detailing before delivering it back to the marina. All this costs me about 1700 a year total. If something breaks on the boat, they send someone to the marina to fix it. I have yet to need to pull the boat out for a repair.

I would strongly recommend Premier Motorsprorts in Wayland, Mi to anyone interested in a Premier pontoon.
