Is everyone getting ready?!

#1 Post by katieclooney » Mon Mar 31, 2014 6:00 pm

I am! :nana

My new years resolution was to not be afraid nor be as neurotic about the toon as I was last year, my first year.
With that being said I decided to take my tax return and:

-bought a basic fish finder/depth finder so that I know how deep I am seeing I do not have power trim or tilt.
-talked to the marina mechanic and have him all set to clean out the intake and engine and give her a once over and make her water perfect. When I pulled her I had zebra mussels and she wasn't peeing.
-Marina welder to weld the busted fin (that I have no clue how I got....see the first bullet point :censored ) as well as fix the lovely bead that came loose and left a gash at the top of the toon. Had water in the toon when I pulled her :scared

The finder and engine cleaning has me at $300. Hoping the welding isn't too much. :drink

I am getting ready as Crappie are going good on Eufaula. Added 2 new rod holders, new water pump and running wire so I can plug in my bait tank. Also adding a new plug in for 12volt fillet knife. Over winter my son and I changed Bearings and races along with new seals. Washed the outside today, inside tomorrow. I also added a card to my GPS to show structure better

I plan to get ready this week... took a weeks vacation but the wife has to work so weather permitting I'll be bringing the toon home, washing her down, topping off the tank, putting in a new battery and hopefully be off to the lake this weekend... last year only took the boat out 4 times..... hopefully it will be a lot more this spring / summer.

We're spending the Spring in Hungary, Austria and Czech Republic. It's a shame we had to fly 10 hrs. to find decent weather.

Hopefully the weather will now be in its full Spring splendor when we return in a week.

Then, its Spring Cleaning time on every thing we own. Hopefully we can get some boating in between work projects.

I've had the batteries on a battery tender all winter so they should be good and ready. I'll probably put them on the boat this weekend and lower the lift to start the motor and let it run for a bit. We cleaned it before we put the cover on it prior to winter -- but I'm sure there is still going to be more spider poop that I'll have to clean off the seats after I pull the cover off.

The Admiral and I are ready for some tooning time! :thumbsup

Loyd -- where are you finding crappie? We are still not seeing anything in Rock Creek Cove. Water temp was only 51 but that was 2 weeks ago. I never got a chance to go check it last weekend.

Just uncovered the beast and that got me chompin at the bit. I can't wait to get on the water. As soon as it softens up a bit more at the ramp. About 6 inches of ice, yet. :x

Crap , The snow drift that lived in front of mine finally melted. Time to get the new trailing cover fitted.

This weekend is looking promising for me, try to get out Sunday. Sunny, low 60s. This week, I introduced Ethan to fishing. He fished awhile with me in a tidal creek Weds., then in a local trout pond today (no fish, but it's all about introducing him to fishing :thumbsup ). Going to take him to a trout farm Sat. for the best shot at his first fish. He's a natural so far, not bad for 2 1/2 :)
