You have to be kidding me

#1 Post by Cycleman07 » Mon Apr 14, 2014 8:09 am

It was 83 degrees in Tulsa Oklahoma yesterday, It is 38 today and i just saw a snowflake. 38 slows lake warming drastically. :censored :box :x

Yep, we're supposed to get down to around 16°-19° tonight! Two things that I'm thankful for?:
  • 1.) that I didn't get the boat out of storage like I was thinking about doing
  • 2.) Restarting the wood boiler!!!

Looking to be the second year in a row that Lake Vermilion will be still partially froze over for the fishing opener (May 9th) , back to back frozen openers is unheard of since the last ice age! Few years back I was already out fishing open water crappie in early April. Heck I put 200 miles on the snowmobile only a week ago.

I think it would have been OK (the forecast low tonight at Grand is 28, and won't stay there long), but I'm glad I didn't get the other boat un-winterized last week like I planned (I'm hoping to get it done this week). That's what's great about the pontoon! Except when our cove was frozen, we were out on the water pretty often all winter.

Louisiana is known for being a "hot" state... so 77 like it was here saturday, is pretty much expected for early spring..... but tonight they're expecting it to drop to 35...... wtf? The only good thing I can say about what has been a cold winter down here, is that it looks like it killed off alot of the salvinia. I drove out to the lake we use for tooning and noticed that all of the salvinia that was along the shore near our launch was completely gone.... not too sure how long it will stay that way, but I'll take it for now. Btw, did you know that louisiana is now using weavils (sp) to combat salvinia, and so far it seems to be working pretty well.

This is why I'll never leave Fla. I am not a cold weather person.
