What is this part of my pontoon boat for?
Hi. Just got my first pontoon boat. Its an Apex cruise LT. I was wondering if someone could tell me what the channel in front of the motor is for. Its full of water until you get up to speed.
Thanks for any info on it. I hope there is a lot of science behind it.

That's the transom subluxation modulator chamber. It focuses leptons, muons and tachyons into nuclear resonance, and forms a virtual tunnel in the space-time continuum, allowing your boat to achieve trans-light navigation. Well,at least it WOULD, if you had a six-core Heisenberg gravimetric transmogrification motor on the back.mikerino wrote:Hi. Just got my first pontoon boat. Its an Apex cruise LT. While very funny, not very helpful. Anyone know the real answer?
Re: What is this part of my pontoon boat for?
No, seriously - we all have them and we all say "what's that for?", and nobody has what appears to be a real legitimate answer.mikerino wrote:While very funny, not very helpful. Anyone know the real answer?

x2 no real answer... The newer ones put the gas tank in there but I believe still have the slot in the bottom ....

Cool, I thought you were just messing with the new guy.

It gives a convenient place to mount the motor and it gives a great place for live well pumps and such.

Actually that is where I have a 30 gallon gas tank-If you are talking about the spot that is front of my motor?curtiscapk wrote:x2 no real answer... The newer ones put the gas tank in there but I believe still have the slot in the bottom ....

That's where we throw our empty cans when we are beached -- the slot at the bottom is too small for them to fall out. Then we just gather them all up when we get back to the dock.

Re: What is this part of my pontoon boat for?
Hey Steveiam,
What is that brace/bracket UNDER your motor mount/fuel tank "Log"?
For my little boat, I have a transom saver to keep the motor from levering the transom to pieces.
Does that brace/bracket do the same thing?
When I noticed that there wasn't a transom saver(Why I call that a "Log" rather than a transom) on the pontoon boat with a 90hp motor, the Marina guy told me to trailer it with the motor down and that a transom saver wasn't needed.
Looks to me though like that is exactly what that bracket does.
So what is it and where did you get it?

Re: What is this part of my pontoon boat for?
Yes Steveiam. Thats the whachamacallit thing. I emailed the manufacturer to ask what its for. I'll need a much bigger one if I am going to throw my empties in there.
Re: What is this part of my pontoon boat for?
Actually that is part a of "frame" I built to help me load up in thewinds/waves.NonHyphenAmerican wrote:Hey Steveiam,

The part you see is just trailer guides with the PVC taken off and mounted where they are-I don't use a transom saver.
Here is some pics of what helps me load up.
It works very similar the 4-C system, just home made and works great-
And BTW- My wife had parked the trailer-J/S
