What do you know about Trim motor on 90HP Merc

#1 Post by jeffybear » Wed Apr 23, 2014 6:51 pm

Near the end of last season my trim motor seemed to be acting up, it would stall, then take off again. I had recently added an onboard charger and thought I might have gotten the wires crossed or something. But I just put the batteries back in today and I'm not getting anything from the trim motor, was making a slight humming noise but no action. Does anyone know the difficulty level in replacing one of these? do they have fuses somewhere to them? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Jeff

Check your grounds first, if that not it , motor may be fried

As said above , also check for a t shaped plug some where in the wiring Ive had mine get corroded and not provide enough juice . The best policy is check all connections but thats harder to do than say when stuff is buried in harnesses and behind stuff

Once I figured out how to raise the motor without the trim working. I was able to find the problem. Inside the motor where the two lead pieces slide back and forth, one was stuck, once I got it loosened up things worked great. So glad :nana
