Where in Florida to find a nice deck boat?

#1 Post by wijames » Mon Apr 28, 2014 1:19 pm

I'm selling my 2011 Tracker bass buggy and want to move up to a 24' deck boat. Does anyone know of anyone in FL that has a nice selection of used deck boats? I'm probably looking for around a 1995 to 2000 model. :donno

You'll be sorry switching from a pontoon to a deck boat. Deck boats will beat you up on the ride. There are however some older boats with fiberglass pontoons and fiberglass decks that I have seen on and off. Check Craig's list.

I've also seen some previous pontoon boat owners go to a deckboat only to come back to another pontoon/tritoon.

Around here, most deck boats are the Starcraft inboard outboard versions. But the one that really is in its own class is a Bennington Azure deck boat. They're top of the line, and can be found online. We have one up the lake from us.

I've pretty much decided to go with another pontoon boat after talking to several other boaters that changed over to deck boats. Now to find a good place in FL to find a good used 24-26' pontoon. Everything I'm finding is beat to shit. Wish I could afford a new one but I'm retiring this year and can't take the debt. Guess I'll just hug Craigs list and hope I can find a decent one.

Thanks for the comments.

You may want to consider a compromise with the Hurricane Fundeck line. It's essentially a pontoon boat on top of a fiberglass trihull. There are a couple of them on my lake and they seem very nice, the owner of one speaks very highly after moving away from his pontoon.
