OCD Owner

#1 Post by Coldbrew » Mon Jun 09, 2014 3:12 pm

Hi Gang,

I did a quick search and couldn't really find an answer to my question.

Since I previously owned bow riders with a gelcoat I'm not sure what to use for wax on my new toon. (no..it's not in yet, but I like to be ready)

I found a thread about what to use on the toons, but nothing about the sides of the boat. Mine is going to be black so I'll be cleaning and waxing it often. If I can just use a car wax then I'm all set, but I didn't know if that was the case.

Thanks :biggrin2

I used plain ole Turtle Wax in a spray bottle on the old Manitou. I have never waxed the Premier, because it has the splatter finish on the exterior. It would be tough to get the wax off that stuff.

The Premier owners manual will most likely have a recommended type/manufacturer of wax you should use.

OrPine Wash and Wax.

I used it on my fishing boat for a over a decade. Maybe only did a serious wax job once or twice during that time. Nice light pine scent and a washing twice a month took care of the salt.

I use it on my truck too.

Yeah...I was thinking of that finish. Since it seems that I can use regular car wax I think I'll go with a clear wax like Turtle Wax Ice. Not the greatest wax, but it leaves no residue and should work well with that finish. I use it on my snowmobiles because of the decals.

Thanks for all the replies. 8)
