Looney Toon makeover.......
I'm fixing to do a slight makeover on our '94 Fisher 240. The seat seams were all coming apart when we bought it a year and a half ago, so I had the not-so bright idea to tape em all up. It doesn't bother me too bad since I mainly use it to catfish out of, but the wife would prefer to not have tape residue sticking to her backside when she's on it. So, I'm gonna order new seats from PS tomorrow, and then get the sun deck recovered locally. Basic layout will stay the same. Gonna lose the 2 armrests in the rear. Front seats will be shorter, with layback ends. The current front seats are pull out sleepers, but we never use them anyway. It needs new carpet too, but that's gonna have to wait until later as I'm not gonna tear it completely down in the middle of summer.

That pontoon will look great once those taped seats are replaced. Good luck on the project.

Re: Looney Toon makeover.......
How well does the trolling motor work mounted on the side like you have it? I was thinking of mounting one on my boat the same way. Also, how far does it stick out past the side of the boat when its pulled up? Does it get in the way when you are docking? Thanks for the info, good luck with the rebuild, I just replaced all the seats on mine. Unfortunately it was before I found out about Pontoon stuff.
Re: Looney Toon makeover.......
The trolling motor works fine on the side, and doesn't stick any farther out than it would on the front. You just have to make sure you drop it far enough down to clear the tube. It hasn't been a problem docking yet, but I almost always dock on the left side anyway. Mounting it on the side keeps it out of the middle of the floor inside the fence when not in use. It also gets it out of the way from the trailer/winch stop. And, my wife and daughter can still sit on the front and hang their feet in the water like they're fond of doing. I'll take some more pics of the set-up......

some trolling motor pics......
I also went ahead and pulled the front seats yesterday afternoon. I wanted to pull the rest, but I'm gonna be fishing from the boat this Friday night so the rest of the seats will have to wait until the weekend. I posted an ad on Craigslist yesterday morning giving all the old seats away if someone would come get them. Had to pull the ad an hour later because of so many replies.

Please tell me you only let them do this while anchored or docked. Had a tragedy on our lake about 15 years ago. A father ran over and killed his own young son after the boy fell in while dangling his feet while underway. I can't imagine anything worse.cuda67bnl wrote:And, my wife and daughter can still sit on the front and hang their feet in the water like they're fond of doing. Our local water cops strictly enforce the law against this and it's a quick way to get a $200 fine. Easy to spot from a long way away, too, so they catch a lot of people doing this.

Of course not while underway......
Re: Looney Toon makeover.......
I was hoping you'd say that. I still see people doing it while underway too regularly so I felt compelled to post.cuda67bnl wrote:Of course not while underway......

New seats require new speakers too........ Not the best out there, but on sale for $20 makes them good enough.

Following along with the makeover.
Curious if the new seating will weigh less than the old.

I'm wondering the same thing...... I got an email saying that everything was shipping, so I should have an idea soon. When I was searching for new seats, some of the makers listed the weights of their seats with wood bases and with plastic bases. In most cases, the plastic ones were slightly heavier. But if you don't know what your current ones weigh, it doesn't tell ya much.

I thought they would be way lighter on my old ass toon. So far I haven't seen a difference in speed, but I had 8 and 10 aboard so that my make up for it. This weekend only 6 so we shall see...Good luck!

There's no way in hell I want 8 or 10 people on mine. That's just way too crowded for me. I had 6 on it a couple of weeks ago when I volunteered to take some disabled folks fishing, and that was too many. I usually only have 1 or 2 besides myself, and that's about perfect. Plenty of room for folks to spread out.
