Need advice- Party Barge 21 bimini canvas - UPDATED

#1 Post by 6thFairway » Mon Jul 07, 2014 12:11 pm

So, I've got a 2007 21" party barge signature model, and last weekend the bimini canvas finally ripped. It might be repairable and we unzipped it to take a look at and see what can be done, but I also want options for replacing the canvas top. I don't need new hardware- the supports are all fine. I just want a replacement canvas that fits this model and can zip right up where the old one was.

Where can I find this for a reasonable price? I need one in navy. Quick google searching leads to complexity- sites wanting me to measure the bimini and replace the supports, etc.

Their website only has a Bow Frame for the 2007 Party Barge.

Man, I'm hoping to find something I can just zip up there without changing out the frame.

You might try pontoon bimini tops on Ebay. there is a "guy" there that sells/makes all kinds of custom tops and replacements.

I would just have a canvas guy make one for you out of Sunbrella.

Do they fit the standard frames? I mean, is there some standardization so the zippers are in the right places for the middle "struts" of cover and not just the front and back?

I'm sorry if these are stupid questions. I know boats pretty well. I know almost nothing about bimini covers.

Give them a call. I think they are pretty much standard if it is the same size. I have two tops on my boat both are different manufactures but the same size. I could change exch top with the other the zippers are in the same place

They will not be standard. You might get lucky but I doubt it. Every brand of boat is going to have the poles in a different spot.

OK, time to bump this question back up to the top. We repaired the canvas instead of buying a new one last time. It just blew apart completely in a thunderstorm today.

21 Foot Suntracker Party Barge Signature - 2008. Navy blue canvas. Anybody have a good place to buy canvas only so I don't have to replace the frame? I'd really rather get something easy and not replace the whole frame.

Thanks for advice or suggestions.

Any good marine upholstery/top shop should be able to make you one. Make sure to use sunbrella material. It won't be cheap, but less then what a suntracker dealer would charge.

Ask at your local marina. I did and they recommended someone. I'd bet a local upholstery guy can make a cover out of canvas, Sunbrella, tent fabric, etc. to fit your existing frame. Mine is a 2003 21' Party Barge Signature edition with a 4 bow bimini. The guy will need to know where you need the zippers. If you can still measure the distance between the bows (with the top up), start at the rear bow where the rear zipper attaches and measure from the center of the rear bow to the center of the next bow. Write it down. Then do the same for the remaining bows. This will tell you where the zippers need to go. Lastly, measure the entire top, from rear to front, to obtain the total length. Be sure to include the overhangs. Mine is 10' long counting the 4" overhangs. I hope that helps.

You almost have to have the boat there or at least the bimini frame so he can mount it on wood and do the fitting. if you don't do this, you are going to be very unhappy with a loose fitting top.
