I don't currently use a TS but I have seen the my wedge.... I think if I were to use one I would probably go with a motormate model... motormateusa.com Yes, fairly expensive, but from what I've seen they are rock solid.... I'll probably end up with one before it's all said and done.

I really don't see those being too useful, It does NOTHING to take the strain off the transom while trailering and only really protects the tilt cylinder from damage.

I hope I don't get flamed for this one but I don't think/see how these devices "save" the transom. They don't... Same weight is hanging off the transom whether the motor is tilted or not... These devices are typically used to gain ground clearance with regard to the lower unit/prop when towing your boat, which in most cases is need by "V" hull boats but not typically needed (due to height of pontoon off the road) when towing our beloved pontoon boats. Save your money and tow your boat with the motor all the way down. I am ready...

I see a lot of the bass boat guys using them, but I dont see how this helps the transom?

Read this post.
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=18797 You'll see my pics of what NOT running a Transom Saver, WILL do.
If you do any long distance traveling, put one on...
Yes, I ran a My-Wedge, I traded some EzFenders for it. Lost it somewhere between Columbus Junction, Iowa and Palmyra, Missouri. Went to what I have now and am very happy with it.

This seems to be one of those topics that there's no "real clear" answer to...... I can tell you that sometime back I was wondering if I should be using a TS so I emailed Bennington and asked them.. the response I got was Bennington recommends using some sort of TS..... then I read the manual for my motor... Somewhere in there it made reference to always towing with the motor trimmed all the way down, unless you have a "clearance" problem, then use a ts. Then there are the guys who say there is a lot more stress on the transom when you're in the water running your boat... so who knows... ask 5 people and you might get five different answers.... I know for myself I've been towing my boat with the motor trimmed down... but then again I don't travel very far to and from the lake... 15 minutes and I'm there....

I think my biggest reason mine cracked is because of loosing the wedge and the motor weighs in 625 lbs. I can't tell for sure when the wedge flew out, but I know the engine was on the trim cylinders for quite a while. I saw it was gone when we got to a gas station to fill the truck up, (I always do a quick walk around and feel the wheels, check the tie downs, ect.) I looked at the transom and felt the thump in my chest. From there, I went to the trailer mounted T/S, like I always used on my old OB's and the Manny.
I went to the dealer to see what I could do to get it fixed and Premiers warranty still covered the repairs! They treated me very well!!!
