We got it! Thanks for the tips!

#1 Post by Whitehorse » Sun Jul 27, 2014 9:33 pm

Just wanted to let you all know that we got the '01 Tracker that was in my list of possibles in a thread earlier in the week. I had been researching and looking at 'toons all summer, and just last week my wife (the Admiral now?) said we should go ahead and get one. Lo and behold, within a week we have one sitting in the driveway! I still can't believe how clean it is for a 13 year old pontoon.

We could tell that the guy we bought it from took great care of it, he even checked the bearings on the trailer and changed one that looked "just a little bit rough" the morning we went to pick it up.

Gave asking, $9500. After seeing how well maintained it was compared to other pontoons around the same price range I'd seen, we didn't feel the need to haggle. Didn't help that the guy and his family were super nice. We lucked out to be one of the first to contact him and the first that could go to see it.

The day we brought it back we had to go to a couple's baby shower :donno for our friends from 4-8 so didn't get out that night. The next day was crappy and we had to go to a family reunion. And now I am gone for work until Thursday :x . It's killing me!

Arrghh! Make it stop! Those words are like daggers in my eyes. Haggling is one of the best parts of buying and selling. I could no sooner pay asking than I could breath water.

Hell, I once sold a pop up camper to a guy who paid asking and I was disappointed that he didn't even try to haggle me down. I would have offered 8500 as an opening bid, made him think 8750 was tops. and then let him think I was doing him a favor by going to 9000. (and I would have gotten in for 9000 too ;) )

There's always time for haggling. But congrats on the boat. It was a great find.
