Yamaha Variable Trolling Feature
I noticed that the new Yamaha motors contain the variable trolling feature where you can adjust the rpm's of the motor in 50 level increments from 600-900 rpms. I have their new 90 hp motor, but I haven't seen anywhere I can do this. After researching a bit, I've found that they reference the tiller-handle motors have this as a stock option. Does anybody know if it is possible to add this to a pontoon boat? Thanks

Re: Yamaha Variable Trolling Feature
That's been a common thing for tiller motors for years. My last 25 about 15 years ago had it. It does what the throttle/shift does on your toon, hold rpm's steady.

Yep, I have it but have never really utilized the feature myself. Re: Yamaha Variable Trolling Feature
Oh, I see. I have been trolling a bit more with the motor since the summer heat came in, and I think I'm trolling too fast (too much throttle). I think it would be nice for more low-end control for that. I just need to play with the throttle a bit more on the low-end it seems.

So do you have a tiller-handle motor or a console?

Very much a console. It's a multi function gauge that provides a lot of useful information.
