what is your time worth?, there is enough cutting measuring and welding to take up at least the better part of an afternoon, not mention gas and time to get to the scrap yard, cost of welding wire and gas, i would settle up on the factory built unit before i spent that kind of time to save in the end maybe $30-50 bucks. I would rather have the nicely galvanized unit that stores flat than have that rusty inconvenient pos on my boat.

Would anyone be up for a group buy if we could make it happen on the box anchors? I think I would like to try one also, but they are a little steep.
Overtons has a labor day sale with free shipping and 10% off over $100, 15% off over $200 and 20% off over $300. Sale was through Sept 1.

Thats the best prices Ive seen on the boxes so far. Ill check around some more this weekend. I read on another forum that Overtons matched the best price and still gave their sale percentages off with free shipping so that may be the best price around. I will look into it, but I doubt we can do much better than that.

I found the small box anchor cheapest at BoatersPlus.com about a month or so ago. Overton's matched that price (they have to be able to pull it up and view the price while on the phone with you) and gave me the discount. I thought it was a super deal.

I just called Overtons to match the price found on BoatersPlus.com of $154.99 for the large box anchor. Overtons is currently running 20% off for Labor Day with free shipping so I tried to order two of the anchors, but they said they will not match that price since its listed as;
MSRP List price: $202.49
$154.99
You save: $47.50 (23%)
Two anchors at $154.99 each - 20% would have come out to $247.98 to my door.
I'll call the manufacturer direct next week and see if we can workout a group buy.

I looked around last night at others that had tried to do group buys with the box anchors and most forums had not had much luck or the shipping into many states ended up killing the deal. I went ahead and ordered two large ones today through Overtons - I put the info in a new thread so we would stop knocking this thread off track for the original poster. Heres the link if interested - sale ends Monday 9/1.

I use 2 river anchors front and back with the anchor buddies as well. For me it works great. I keep 2 buckets on board for storage. One front and one back.
