Boat owners day at the marina

#1 Post by MH Hawker » Sun Aug 31, 2014 4:39 am

Today is the yearly party at my marina, I was wondering how common this is;. Ours is nothing fancy, its mainly free food, dogs and burgers and a drawing for 100.00 fuel cards, free ice for a year, 50 % off slip rental for next year and so on. We go ever year just because its a nice gathering.

The Bennington dealer here on Lake Norman has their open house this weekend with the same kind of stuff going on. They also have deals on boats.

There are yacht clubs down here in East Texas but not too many Marinas. Lots of public ramps and private operations. I wish there was a place to go where there was friendly people for repair and service when needed, that had get togethers like that.

Our marina and it's sister marina each have crabs, bbq, etc and then everyone brings a dish. Games for the kids, etc. We get invited to both since we were slip holders at both marinas and they have become family to us. :thumbsup

Thats what it is here BMR, its a small marina with 270 slips and 99 % pontoons, its just a nice thing. We do have several yacht clubs around but their way out of my price range.

Being as its a limited HP lake it is mostly old farts like me, so its family and grand kids, no bass holes or jet fleas so yes it is a family.

The owner was running the grill and plenty of burgers and dogs, grilled chicken breasts, chilli and tater salad and chips and one lady brought several of her home made apple pies that just melt in your mouth.

Had a small turn out yesterday about 75 to 100, had a bit of rain and i didn't win a damm thing my luck is holding to its normal I could of really used a year of free ice.

I'd say your marina cares about your business and has a nice way of saying thanks
