Size of plugs on top of Tracker toons?

#1 Post by Whitehorse » Mon Aug 25, 2014 8:31 am

This is related to my "help" post the other day. Looking for replacement plugs for the holes on the tops of the pontoons on my 2001 tracker 21. Does anyone know the plug size, or where I can find it for that year/model? I saw someone online say his were 3/8", but that was for a different length/year, and from what I measured it looked like either 1/2" or 5/8". Just want to be sure before I take the time to order anything.

Thanks!

Mine ended up being 5/8". I have a galvanized steel plug I got at Menards in there now, and I'm having a hell of a time finding anything that size online in aluminum or plastic.

Anyone have a site recommendation? How long could I leave the steel one in before corrosion starts?

You might consider using LOK-CEASE 20/20 anti-seize
http://northamerica.certifiedlabs.com/p ... lubes.html

and McMaster-Carr for the stainless fittings
http://tiny.cc/ajpilx

Strange, I tried 3 times to paste the link directly to the stainless steel 316 pipe plug page at McMaster-Carr.

The 1/2" is $4.70/each in type 316 stainless part#4452K144

No such thing as a 5/8" pipe plug... Pipe fittings do not match their given trade sizes whereas 3/8" npt has an OD of .675" ad 1/2" npt has an OD closest to 7/8"

Are you sure the basket did not say 3/8" NPT there is no such thing as 5/8" pipe.... Keep in mind 3/8" NPT is roughly 5/8" outside diameter; but still wrong to call it 5/8 pipi...

My last order came in a box that was better than 25" X 25" X 6" and shipping was but 16.00 and I've seen shipping charges that were only 5 or 6 dollars for small orders...

Although not on their website, these guys have taper pipe plugs available in both 18-8SS and 316SS (marine grade).

do all toons have plugs on top? I don't remember seeing one on mine. Where would they be located?

Newer Trackers have them on the insides of the logs, so much easier to access.
