Boatcop... thought about this post when I was at work today, I work for a local television station and I came across a story one of our reporters did on "holiday boat safety".... The river patrol they interviewed had pretty much the same experience as you... no issues, not one ticket written... and from the video I saw, it looked like their were a lot of boats out on the red river this past weekend.BoatCop wrote:I spent Thursday, Friday and Saturday on the water. Not on the toon, but on the workboat.
Very uneventful weekend on my neck of the River. No major incidents and everyone behaving themselves. When I can go 3 days and not write a single ticket, you know it's a mellow weekend.

Did not take the boat out. Too many people of variable sanity on our lake on big weekends. Did some work on the cabin and lake lot.
Made a nice fire pit area.
Started with this: (Pit is on the right of the gravel drive, you can just barely see it.

To this:

And wound up with this:

Still got about a hundred more block to buy/set then we will put down pea-gravel as a base.

Y'all need to come to Kentucky Lake. 2 miles from the TN border and we feel like we own the lake, even on holidays down here. We moved this winter from the 11 mm (recreational channel, not barge mm) where there was lots of lake traffic from there up to the dam. Now we're at the 35 mm and there's nobody! Life is good!
Congrats on your upcoming retirement, BoatCop! Retirement is NOT overrated!

Re: How Was Your Labor Day Weekend?
I've been working on rebuilding the balcony on the front of my lake house, including new joists, flooring, railing and screening it in. It's been a bigger job than anticipated, as I have never had time to do Spring Cleaning on my boat.
My pontoon boat has 1/2 tank of fuel--from last Fall. I put 4 hours on my Waverunner last week after putting it in the water for the first time this season.
Maybe we'll have a Fall boating year. There's just about nobody out on our lake today, with only 2 boat trailers at a boat ramp that usually has 50 trailers on a Summer Sunday.
It seems that after football season opens, everyone stays off the lake. It's a shame, as the boating conditions have been really great this week.
