What to do with trailer during winter?

Re: What to do with trailer during winter?
I have two pieces of 2x12 pressure treated (bought off the scrap rack at Home Depot) that are cut to about 5' each (it was a 12' board with one end damaged. I just back the boat in onto those, chock the wheels and let it go. Better for the tires than dirt - keeps them up off of the damp ground, and allows water to drain away should any get under the boat shed.

Yep, just park it in the shed and let it sit all winter. I put the charger on a couple times to top off the batteries. I keep fuel treatment in it everytime I add gas, so that is done. Just check the air pressure in the spring and head out!

Re: What to do with trailer during winter?
I just had mine sink into the back yard a few weeks ago when we had to move it back so we could get the semi in to unload the new shed. What else... Skid loader, sizzors lift, 2 semi trailers and my Prowler's trailer. All sunk in after a hard rain. I'm still filling holes!

Mine sites on dirt under a carport year round except when we go to the lake. No problem with tires.

Re: What to do with trailer during winter?
I used to not jack my trailers up but now I do. I had all my 4 1/2 year old tires on my 24' cuddy cabin develop tread separation where it sat for the winter on a trip. Took around 800 miles before the failure after it had been sitting.
The following is for RV tires but applies to trailer tires as well.

Ideally, a vehicle in storage should be placed on blocks to remove all weight from the tires.

My last fishing boat trailer sat empty in my yard for 10 years before we sold the boat. When sold, I pressure washed it, checked tire pressure, and made sure the bearings had grease. I've heard tires can go out of round from sitting in one spot, but I saw no evidence of that in my case.

Re: What to do with trailer during winter?
Just for the record, we store the boat in the yard on 2x12 treated wood. Have used all kinds of tire treatment to reduce drying out and rotting. The lasted about 5 years+. They were Goodyear Marathons from New Zealand. Have same tires on now but from the Chi-Comms. I guess if I stored them in a cool shady place on rock or concrete, they might have lasted longer. The most dry rot was inside between the treads - no real sunlight exposure.

Never had trouble storing it on grass in GA. Red Georgia clay doesn't compress much over the winter. Might try taking weight off tires this winter but also might considering getting new tires. After reading bad stories about trail america tires and them being 5 years old is making me think.
