Dealer here charges 19.99/ft. Needless to say I pay 40/month for indoor non heated storage. It would almost make sense for me to buy the materials and tool and do it myself.

We did that last year (our first with the toon) only to have the roof collapse on our lovely new boat and write it off. This year we're getting a navigloo cover and covering it ourselves where we can keep an eye on it and brush the snow off occasionally.

I know the navigloo is more expensive than cobbling together something myself but I spend too many hours at work already. Having something off the shelf saves me time and lets me do more boating...

Every year I go back & fourth about shrink wrapping or wrapping it with tarps. I always end up shrink wrapping. It ends up being the best way to keep it clean and not worry about snow / ice collapsing it.
Also looks better if you have to stare at it all winter in your back yard like I do...

Thanks for the info everyone. The boat is going to be stored where it gets snowed on. I'll check on costs for shrink wrapping.

Down here in East Texas we just get a BIG tarp then pull the "pontoon" up close to one of our OIL wells and throw tarp over the boat and pumping unit so both stay warm, and it keeps the deer and alligators away. ionlyhad4beerssofartobethisfunny.

Shrink wrapping doesn't look that hard to do. There are some videos on youtube on it. The only thing would be having the tools and space to do it and the ability to get up that high. Someone on this forum has a post where they bought a roll of that shrink wrap for a pretty reasonable price. Think they said there was enough there to wrap it for two or three years or more. I just use a tarp to cover mine. We USUALLY don't have too bad winters and snow don't stay around long. I have a small fan that I sit up under the tarp and let it run all the time to keep air circulating. The moving air and sound of it helps keep the varmint out.

All are good ideals. Shrink wrap would be best better then just tarping with that much snow. With the cost to wrap every year might look into have a metal cover put up then you could just cover it for the winter. Plus that would also protect it in the summer months from all the sun.

I just got a flyer from the dealership I bought my boat at, and they charge $18/ft for shrink wrap. That seems really expensive! Is that just $18/ per linear foot of boat, i.e. if my boat is 20 ft long, the cost will just be $18 * 20?

Seems like something to do, but if I want to get the boat out on a nice day in november, I won't be able to. Hmm, decisions...

You can mail order shrink wrap online. Shouldn't be worth the prices quoted above to install the stuff. Makes me proud my boat's sitting in a boathouse 12 mos. out of the year out of the weather.
